I have a 2006 f150 5.4 Triton, switched power source?

I have a 2006 f150 5.4 Triton.

I needed a switched power source, and found a solid red wire coming from a harness by the relays(?) in the engine compartment, on the passenger side, by the firewall.

I spliced into that wire, and it worked perfectly for about 5 miles, then the truck shut down, and now there's no power at that wire at all. (won't start)

What did I do, and can I fix it?

You more than likely exceeded the current rating of the wire. In a newer vehicle, it is more than likely fused. I'd check both the fuses inside the vehicle, and under the hood to see if one is blown. If the fuses check out fine, then your best bet is going to a dealership. It sounds like you possibly fried one of the wires that run to the ignition harness.
