Spiritually speaking are conservatives or liberals more conservative ?

Conservative Christians in the US who are always looking to change the rules to suppress the rights of others while liberals fight to put things back to the freedoms were are guaranteed in the Constitution . Why is that ?

Update:

Michael McAffrey What about the color of their skin or sexual preference ? The Catholics were the second largest contributors to H8 here do you still tithe to the church or put the money to a fund to fight bigotry until the RCC pulls it's support for hate ?"

I see all conservatives as wowsers.

The Australian writer C.J. Dennis defined it thus: 'Wowser: an ineffably pious person who mistakes this world for a penitentiary and himself for a warder'.

Conservatives are in denial, as your first answer illustrates beautifully.

Plus, particularly if they're also religious, they scramble for the moral high ground and come on so self-righteous it's like they're surrounding themselves with a cloud of holy incense through which it's impossible to discern anything but vague shapes. So you don't get subtle arguments from conservatives. Abortion is baby murder. Gay marriage is perversion and it will be the death of America. The Bible is the word of Gawd.

LIberals prefer the clear light of day, where things are complicated, where each moral case needs to be decided in the light of circumstances, and the appeal to absolute principle is replaced by subtlety, rational argument, and the recognition that life is often untidy. But you can't work with that mindset while holding a fundie view of the Bible, which is the real bugbear.

I offer this reply in a spirit of humility and tolerance, as a true liberal should....

liberal extremists is a contradiction. Liberal is the middle way, only in the USA would it be considered anything but centre. That is why in the UK elections the Conservatives and Labour are running scared As to why you want to put them in a Sinner box - beats me. An Iron Maiden or make them listen to a Christian Fundamentalist bleating on about Creationism. That is enough to drive the most resilient to cry.

I heard this great explanation on the radio:

"when I was growing up, I was taught that Christians fixed themselves and tried to help others. It seems like now, Christians try to help themselves, and fix others."

    Does that ring a bell?

American conservatives are nothing like conservatives in the rest of the world. They're actually more like the radical right, not centre-right.

Because "liberals", in the true definition of the word, support "liberty".

not all of us Christians are fundies. I'm Catholic and I dont care what others' believe.

Source(s): well then screw you too. I did nothing to you. Its not the Catholic church is not responsible for hate, its the people in it. get over yourself.

Political ideas are shaped by the level of intelligence: fundies don't have one so they follow blindly a bullshit book.

i really don't think there's such a thing anymore, at least in government. they all pretty much behave the same way.
