The LCD is more than 10 times better than a plasma. Here is one difference. The light reflects on plasma TVS but not on LCD and the plasma tvs loosing quality over the time the lcd not and much more.

Source(s): my friend got a LCD we got a plasma

The long lasting question. You will hear many different opinions about this.

My personal is Plasma. Plasmas have better refresh rates (whick means you will not see alliasing or shadows on fast moving objects) and they also have a better contrast ratio, displaying more vivid colors.

You will probably hear that Plasmas have the risk of burn-in or image retention. Not any more. Plasma technology has evolved and the burn-in problem in minimal to non-existent.

Edit: Yahoo just posted an article that may give you a better idea of what to buy.

Plasma all the way, I have Panasonic TH46PZ85U & Sharp LC37D62U

and the Panasonic is a better set. Not just because it is bigger but the picture is better, action movies and sports are smoother. My son plays his PS3 steady with no effect

I would go with LCD because you'll get "burn in" with plasma
