The War on Terror: ultimate example of politics for the uneducated?those unable to think for themselves?
I posted a question asking whether the media was responsible for increased suspicion towards Islam. Mostly what I got was a load of crap about the "Marxist" media (have you ever actually read Marx?)
Am I the ONLY person who sees the "War on Terror" (impossible by definition, soundbite to get the uneducated's attention) as a farce, a tool by which the US/UK governemnt can pass untold numbers of bills restricting our freedoms, and seemingly giving them the right to invade oil rich nations. Or help their close friends who have major share-holdings in arms companies.
Please help re-affirm my belief in humanity. Or are we all brain dead thanks to TV, computer games and believing the word of self-interested politicians?
Please, please tell me how you fight a military war against an underground/guerilla organisation...answer is you CAN'T, and Bush/Blair knew this full well. (Sorry to raise the subject but remember Vietnam?)
If I was Muslim (I am not religious) the one thing that would turn me to extremism is to see the militaristic bullies of the modern world (the US and now UK) invade, without any legal/logical sanction, 2 mainly Muslim countries and SLAUGHTER thousands of Muslims.
Thank you for reading this, the amount of ignorance around makes my blood boil. Feel free to post abuse if you want, on such a subject I'm fully prepared for loads of comeback

The term sh*t rolls down hill, applies here I believe.
Since, the government is putting "education first", I've concluded that means, when moneys tight, education is first to get hit.

Sheep...most people are sheep and are afraid to buck the system even when that system is corrupt.
If one looks hard enough for a reason one will find it and try to justify it no matter how irrational the reason may be.
The result of 9-11 should not have been a war against another country but that was easier than finding the exact people responsible and prosecuting those realatively few errant people.
Instead, what the US did was say those people were from a country that we would just love to control so that whole country is bad...lets go "shock an awe" them.Bush and his cronies found their reason and then started justifing it with their stupid story spinning to the United Sheep of America. So now we've walked ,as sheep do, over a cliff because some baffoon said it was ok.
The danger in not questioning things are those pesky cliffs.
Our children and loved ones are now fighting a war that should not have happened.
But what choice do they have, the military looks like a great career when you consider what many of those soldiers think the alternative is.I'm talking about poverty.Something they don't think they can overcome because no one in our country will wage a war against that type of terror.
We need to start making the US healthy again before we point fingers at the injustices in other countries . In a country as great as ours it is indeed a crime to sustain All the inequities that we do.
The survivors of the victims of 9-11 cannot get their loved ones back and I seriously doubt they are happy that thousands of innocent Iraqies and our child soldiers have been killed all under the guise that or government was making things right for those survivors when in reality WE JUST WANTED THE OIL.
How insulting!
The water has been muddy for so long I wonder if anyone would recognise what cool clear water looks like...Would we drink it ,or be suspicious?

Of course it is a farce - but what is any war except for an attempt to increase ones power over the people, or over someone else's people?
Bush went into this war for a) revenge, b) oil, and then a long, long way down the list, to give Iraq democracy.
Blair followed because he thinks that the UK should no longer act independantly, and because he know that, due to the poor education system he helped create, most people will not contest whatever he says.
Like the countries of Africa and Eastern Europe, they use fear of foreign countries to push their people to war - surely we are beyond that? Or so I would hope.
The whole thing has just made terrorism more likely, and just caused people who would otherwise have integrated into society to just retreat into their own communities. The USA knew there was no WMDs, as did the UK and most of the other allies - but they went ahead anyway, because they believed in their stupidity that they could keep the truth from the people. They also know that you cannot fight terrorism, because it's not a visible army, it doesn't stand up before you and fight facing you, it is invisible, will not play by the rules, and there is a lot more of it in our own countries that there is in Iraq.
I agree with you that the ignorance of people, especially those who just quote Marxism or "because they're muslims", is beyond irritating. You have to wonder how the UK and USA became developed nations, if this is an indicator of the levels of ignorance and undereducated idiocy of the people.
...and yet for some reason many people think Blair was the best thing to happen to this country???

You are not the only one. This is not to say that there are not really dangerous extremists, but the actions of the West, including the use of terrorist double agents in false flag attacks, have muddied the waters and made it difficult to determine the real strength of the extremists. In any case, the powers that be need them to be or at least appear to be strong so that we have a reason to stay in the region.

Actually I agree with you. Seriously how is this a WAR ON TERROR? isn't it ironic that they are TERRORIZING a country that had nothing to do with 9/11?
