My dog is avoiding my living room all of a sudden?

I just moved into a new house about a week ago and all was well, then yesterday he started acting scared and nervous when he was in the living room. I live alone, and it's only that room. When he HAS to go through there he puts his head down and runs. He's been whining and grumbling when I sit in there, like he's telling me to get out. It's starting to creep me out, do I have a ghost, or carbon monoxide or what? Dogs are rarely wrong about this sort of thing.

Update:

All great responses, thank you everyone. I'm gonna keep dragging him in there and clip his nails tonight. Hopefully just a phase he'll get through soon. If not, i'll look into exorcism.

Could there have been a new noise that was too loud or scary for him? When I first brought my new puppy home he was ok in the kitchen for the first day and then got freaked out in there..big problem since the door to tkae him out to go to the bathroom was in the kitchen. I'm thinking the refrigerator came on and scared him when he was near it because when he did finally go in there he stayed away from the fridge for a few days.

Just a thought. I also know he was a little nervous in my living room the first day he heard the mailman come stomping up the stairs for the first time.

It could be that he's in a new environment and he's probably scared not being in his "home" and being used to things. My ex told me that our dog started regressing to his 4 month old puppy behavior when she left and took him and they went to her dad's house to live. Even though he'd been there plenty of times and stayed there when we went away she said he was freaking out and doing things he hadn't done in about 6 months...pooping all over the house, peeing on her's and her dad's bed, biting, etc. Oh well....she deserves it for taking him and assuming I didn't want him and he was hers. But, that could be the case as well.

Wow... sounds like he can definately sense something. I know a lot of people will tell you the ghost thing is nonsense, but animals have senses we don't have, I truely believe that. It could also be a smell or a sound that a human can't detect. If I were you I would try to coax him into the room, talk to him, pet him, try to make him comfortable and calm. No doubt you feeling uncomfortable because he is uncomfortable is making him more anxious.

Wow that is alittle creepy. Maybe your dog can sense something in that room that humans can't. Or maybe he hurt himself in there a few days before that? Any new furniture or anything in there?

Is the floors different from the rest of the house?

The same thing happen with my dog except it was the kitchen. He wouldn't even go in there to eat his food. He was soooo scared. As it turned out, we did have a ghost.

Do you have a ceiling fan in there? My cats were petrified of the ceiling fan for a week when we moved into our house because they'd never seen one before. They were so scared they hid for a week under my bed. I know yours is a dog, but it was just an idea.

is your living room a tile or short and/or hard rug area? it could be that he needs his nails clipped because its painful to walk on the floor.

Could he possibly have had an "accident" in there you are not aware of
