I'm 30, single, no kids. I love animials, hip-hop, body art, stand-up comedy, movies, gardening & dancing. I oppose breed specific legislation and pitty the ignorance behind it. I can't quite figure out why it's the government's business to tell me what I can & can't do to my body let alone what kind of dog I'm allowed to own! My basic philosophy... don't be afraid to have an opinion! And don't be afraid to back it up!

  • Environmental Allergies?

My cat is a senior. Last summer she was outside during the day & lost a lot of her fur. Over the winter it grew back. Now that's she's going outside again she has started to chew & pull out her fur again. She is treated with Frontline for bugs. Vet said it was environmental allergies & antihistamines would NOT help. She got a steroid injection. She hasn't been back outside. It's been about a month & she's chewing at herself again. The vet said she may have to get a steroid injection every month or so, but I know that's not good for her bones. Why would the vet say antihistamines wouldn't help? Are they just trying to stick me for money to do the steroid injections?

  • Is it "jump-able"?

I think I have a bad starter solenoid or ignition switch (my truck won't start) so can I jump it to get it started? The battery & battery cables are new, the starter has been tested & is fine. I just gotta get it going to get it to the mechanic without towing cuz it's too expensive.

  • Help me with my mystery starting problem!!?

I have a 2004 Saturn Vue. It's been giving me problems starting lately. I have a brand new battery & my dad has already taken my starter off & had it checked. When the problem occurs, I turn the key, the dash lights up normally, but there is no sound of ignition or attempted ignition at all. When I had to get a new battery, I tried to start it & u could hear the starter clicking. Absence of this sound is what made me think the starter was bad. I don't know what else it could be. Alternator? Battery cables?

  • Strongest shower stall material?

I'm replacing my tub/surround with a double shower stall. I need a heavy duty, strong material that won't break. Any suggestions? I've done some reading, but it seems everybody has a different opinion, gelcoat fiberglass, acrylic fiberglass, etc.

  • Loose shower wall & recaulking?

I bought an older home a couple of years ago and the shower wall (one of those plastic-looking flexible ones) has pulled away from the tub where the joint is caulked. Recaulking seems simple, but what can I do about the "give" in that joint? If I recaulk it and any weight is put against the shower wall it will just pull away from the caulk-bead again at the base of the tub. Should I try to glue the shower wall to the wall behind it then caulk? Should I put some rust proof screws thru the shower wall into studs behind it? I'm single & I can't afford to rip out the bathroom walls. I don't know the best way to stabilize the shower wall.

  • Unibrow on a 7 yr old?

Ok... one of my old friends from high school has a daughter that's going into 1st grade. This little girl is beautiful but has a HUGE unibrow. She's obviously gonna get made fun of in school... I don't know what I would do in this situation. I mean if something as simple as waxing could keep a kid from being made fun of... why not do it? Obviously in a perfect world, we would say who cares, she's just a kid... but kids can be cruel! Especially now days when it seems like good manners aren't being taught like they used to. What would you do in the situation? Sure you could tell her looks don't matter and making fun isn't nice and all that, but in the end she's still going to be embarrassed and still going to be made fun of.

  • If you were buying a laptop...?

My boyfriend is buying himself a laptop for Christmas, he wants a Toshiba, but he doesn't know what processor speed and memory amount is preferred. He will be using it a lot on the web and probably downloading music, but no heavy gaming use or anything like that. Any suggestions?

  • Aftercare for ear hematoma? HELP?

My dog had ear hematoma surgery a week ago tomorrow. Currently her ear is sandwiched between what looks like two rubber ear-shaped pads with holes in them. In probably about 8 locations there are rivet-like pins (for lack of a better word) making her ear like a sandwich. The vet told me to clean it twice a day with peroxide which I have been doing. There is always a lot of "gunk" like bloody looking jelly that is caked and dried around these rivet thingys. Also the smell is horrible. I don't know if it's the old blood leaking out or trapped blood between these rubber things, but is this normal? She has an e-collar on and when I clean her ear she trembles like she's in horrible pain. I've been giving her aspirin regularly, this just seems like such a crude method of dealing with the hematoma. Any suggestions?

  • Menopausal Pitbull? lol?

I have a rednose pitbull. She is about 9 years old. She hasn't had a heat cycle for close to a year. She is an indoor dog and has zero contact with other dogs. Recently she has started to develop larger teats that seem very hard. She's also been licking herself a lot. I saw on her dog bed she seems to be having some sort of discharge. It's not bloody, but yellow. It does not look like urine & has no smell. She has a vet appointment Saturday, but I'm curious what it could be. I'm thinking maybe she has some infection, cyst, tumor or something in her female organs?

  • Bipolar with no health insurance?

I was diagnosed with "manic depression" when I was a teenager. I've been medicated pretty much continually ever since. My manic phases consist of irritability, insomnia, extreme anxiety. What I've found helped my depression the best was Lexapro, but it got too expensive and had to switch to Celexa. I've been on this now for several years and it seems I'm not getting the "effect" anymore. I don't know if something else should be added or if I should start a totally new medication. I also take Xanax and Klonepin for anxiety. Problem being I don't have any health insurance and all the new anti psychotics are way too expensive. I am also not eligible for assistance through the drug companies for medication cost help. Anybody have recommendations of medications they have had any luck with that aren't horribly expensive?

  • Please help me pick a new PC?

I work at a small law practice, my boss has given me permission to buy a new pc. I am totally illiterate when it comes to the specifications needed. I can tell you we don't do graphic-demanding things like gaming. We do a lot of multitasking, I may be running 6-7 programs at once. We are heavy internet users, so I need upload/download speed, I need fast response time when switching between windows or waiting for pages to load. We do a lot of file transfer, so that's important also. Hmm I'm trying to think of what else... of course I know about the software, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, things like that. Any help and suggestions would be welcome. My boss likes Dell, so he wants to stay with that brand I think.

  • Advice on this overgrown mess...?

I bought a house that has been rental property for many years, therefore nothing in the form of maintenance has been done except the bare minimum to both house & lawn. My backyard is separated from the neighbors on each side by an overgrown fence-row. Weeds, small trees, big trees, vines, you name it. My thinking was to cut down everything on my side of the fence and spray it with brush killer, allow everything to die down, probably wait until next spring then till, remove stumps, etc and plant grass. How does this sound? Any better ideas?

  • Italian dish with potatoes & cabbage/casserole-like?

There is a show called Lidia's Italy, I came in midway through her recipe yesterday but the end result looked so amazing I thought I'd try to find it. It was a baked dish, potatoes, shredded cabbage and some type of meat (looked like sliced pork tenderlion, but probably wasn't) with some sort of pesto. She layered it in a casserole dish, dotted it with butter and baked it, then at the end covered it with cheese. The cheese seemed soft & crumbly and was white. She said it had a mild creamy flavor and was from the same area the dish originated from. She said something about the dish being from an area in Italy that didn't use olive oil, they used mostly butter in their cooking and said something about making great walnut oil... someone please help me I've looked everywhere even her website!

  • Vision Worsening = More Aggression?

I have a pitbull that's going on 9 years old. Lately anything she sees in the yard she doesn't recognize (like a piece of trash) she starts barking at the door like crazy until she can go out and investigate it. I've noticed that her pupils seem to be slightly cloudy. I read that this is normal with age. It doesn't appear to be cataracts or anything, but I was wondering if her waining vision could be the reason for her behavior change? Seems reasonable, similar to snakes being more aggressive when they are molting & it affects their vision.

  • Why is is 2004 Vue idling rough?

I have a 2004 Saturn Vue V6 automatic 2-wheel drive. It has about 93,000 miles on it. I have always changed the oil regularly and I had the transmission serviced probably a year ago. It runs fine, never had a problem. All readings & gages are normal: oil level, fluid levels, temperature, amps, etc. However, at an idle like stopped at a red light it has started idling rough. I've had this vehicle since it had 20,000 miles on it (for about 3 years). I've never changed the plugs & wires. Would that cause a rough idle? Could it be something with the fuel system? I use fuel treatments maybe 2-3 times a year.

  • What's the best texturizer?

I bought some texturizer by Loreal called Out of Bed, it was great cuz it was thick and really held my hair. Now I can't find it in stores. I tried the Garnier brand but it's like jelly, too thin. I don't want something greasy, but something firm. Any suggestions? I don't want to waste money on random products that I won't ever use.

  • Epoxy or what? Help with my project please!?

Ok this is hard to explain but I have a some lengths of metal that have been cut for a project. They are about 2/16 of an inch wide and maybe 1/16 thick. I have filed the ends to take off the sharp corners but I still need something to cover the ends. Something to dip the ends in, something to make these appear something like match-sticks with a smooth rounded bulbous end. I don't even know what material to look for in a store. Is there some sort of epoxy, resin, or ???? It has to be durable and heat resistant.

  • I want to try Indian Food...?

I'm not a picky eater and I like nearly everything I've ever tried. I've really only had Chinese, Mexican & Italian food. I want to try more, like Indian, Greek, Thai, etc. There is an Indian restaraunt beside the Mexican place I always go and it smells so wonderful. But I know zero about what to order. Tell me some good Indian dishes and what the ingredients are. I like beef, chicken, seafood, & goat isn't bad. I have never had lamb or mutton, but like I said I'm willing to try it. I don't however do organ meats like liver, etc.

  • Doggie Homecoming - Suggestions?

When I was married we had a red nose pit bull named Brandy. When we divorced I kept her until my ex got a new place then he took over her care. She's been with him for about 3 years now. In the meantime he's had two kids and she loves the kids. His living arrangements have changed and I want to take the dog so she is not left outside since she has always been an indoor dog. However, I'm single, no kids, it's pretty quiet around my place & I realize this will be a huge change for her. She's very well trained and well behaved but I worry about her not being happy with me.
