What would have happened if this was allowed?

In 2007, Stephen Colbert announced his intentions to run on both the Republican and Democratic ticket of President. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeRLwMGILP8&feature...

Update:

the link is an campaign speech for Colbert from both the Mayor and Colbert.

Update 2:

if Colbert was serious, however, he could have single-handly bought ballot access for every state (in my state it would be $500 for the general election and $1000 for the primaries).

I remember Steve Colbert attempting to get on the South Carolina Democratic primary ticket.

However, I don't follow links out of here. Afraid I'll get rickrolled.

I think we might have gotten a better President. :D I think Stephen Colbert is 934,594,873,094 times more qualifed to be a good president than the current clown the American people were stupid enough to vote into office just based on catchy slogans and slick speeches.
