Corrosion of iron??? HELP?!?!?

I had Iron (assuming it is pure iron) in H2SO4.

the half equation is Fe(s) --> what??

Is it Fe2+ or Fe3+

And what is the difference in how the two form?

    ok well firstly Fe2+ will be formed no doubt about that....

    half equation is

    Fe--->Fe2+ + 2e-

    well if the fe2+ is exposed to air...you will see that it will turn brown after some time...infact that is Fe3+...the Fe2+ has been oxidised to F3+...
