SpongeBob blanket (crochet). How would you personally go about changing colors for the details?
For a SpongeBob project: colors yellow, brown, and white shouldn't be a problem changing. But when it comes to the black for the eyes(amongst other colors), there are some rows where you only need one and two stitches of certain colors.
I'm just wondering how you personally would do it?
I dont want the back to look messy in places where the colors are changed/carried over.
Thanks !

For the details you can cross stitch them on. That is what I would do. I am doing a Green Bay Packers afghan right now. I will give you another little tip. One that I discovered for my project. Outline your Spongbob with surface chain.
I will also tell you something else I have done. I have made several of these. Make a small version of your blanket and turn it into a pillow. all you have to do is get the basic shape then you can emproider the rest. EWhen I made mine i made rounds of the indifidual colors that go on the eyes then sewed them together an then sewed them in place on the pillow
you can also make tubes for the arms and legs working in the round. Give it a try and youll do great.

Personally, I cut the yarn and tie discreet knots. It never shows. Take a humongous sewing needle (yarn needle or large crewel needle) and use it to tuck the ends of the yarn in and hide them, once you're done with the whole project.

i would do an all single crochet background and then cross stitch the other colors onto that.
