Experienced crocheters, please help!?

I am an advanced knitter, and that is my primary craft. I am an intermediate crocheter.

I am making the raccoon (crocheted) in the pattern at http://sarahanns.com/crochetworks/animals.html

I am working on the hand/arm, which is found in the mouse pattern on the second page.

The directions are:

HAND: Ch 4, sl st in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook, (ch 3, sl st in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook) twice, draw up a loop in the end of each of the first two "fingers" made, yo and draw thru all 3 loops on hook, sl st in first ch made. Continue on to...

ARM: Ch 1, 3 sc in same ch as sl st, ch 1, turn. (Sc in each sc, ch 1, turn) three times; draw up a loop in each sc, yo and draw thru all 4 loops on hook, ch 1, sl st at base of last stitch. Fasten off leaving 6" of yarn. Sew to sides of body

Please don't simply define the abbreviations for me. I know them already. I don't understand the hand instructions. I think the arm makes enough sense. However, I don't have a clue what I'm supposed to do for the hand. None of that makes sense to me.

Experienced crocheters, could you please put the hand instructions into very basic, very thorough directions for me?

Thanks you!

Happy holidays.

Ch 4, sl st in 2nd chain from hook, sl st (again) in 3 rd ch from hook *that made a finger*,

(ch 3, sl st in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook) twice *do as you did on the first finger, 2 more times...you now have 3 fingers*,

draw up a loop in the end of each of the first two "fingers" made, *the end is the part where they touch each other, not the claw end*.

yo and draw thru all 3 loops on hook *that brings them together like a hand*, sl st in first ch made *the first chain, on the first finger. Your hand is now complete*

You're making 3 fingers and then connecting them together at the hand end with a slip stitch through the bottom of the fingers and then connecting it back to the very first chain you made with another slip stitch so it ends up like a cupped hand with chain and slip stitch fingers.

    Hope that helped.
