  • How to graph on Argand Diagram?

I need to graph 2cosθ and 2isinθ on the Complex Plane / Argand Diagram. I know how to do it, except I am confused about the presence of θ in each expression-- I would know how to do it if it were just graphing constants like 2 or 3i.

  • Knotts Scary Farm... help?

So I'm going to Knotts Scary Farm (Buena Park, CA) tonight. Is there a good place for my parents to pick me up afterward, that they can justy stay in the car, and that I can get to easily? Preferably a place that my parents don't have to pay to park there?

  • Experienced crocheters, please help!?

I am an advanced knitter, and that is my primary craft. I am an intermediate crocheter.

I am making the raccoon (crocheted) in the pattern at http://sarahanns.com/crochetworks/animals.html

I am working on the hand/arm, which is found in the mouse pattern on the second page.

    The directions are:

HAND: Ch 4, sl st in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook, (ch 3, sl st in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook) twice, draw up a loop in the end of each of the first two "fingers" made, yo and draw thru all 3 loops on hook, sl st in first ch made. Continue on to...

ARM: Ch 1, 3 sc in same ch as sl st, ch 1, turn. (Sc in each sc, ch 1, turn) three times; draw up a loop in each sc, yo and draw thru all 4 loops on hook, ch 1, sl st at base of last stitch. Fasten off leaving 6" of yarn. Sew to sides of body

Please don't simply define the abbreviations for me. I know them already. I don't understand the hand instructions. I think the arm makes enough sense. However, I don't have a clue what I'm supposed to do for the hand. None of that makes sense to me.

Experienced crocheters, could you please put the hand instructions into very basic, very thorough directions for me?

    Thanks you!

    Happy holidays.

  • How do I put this in a regular hyperbola form?

    I am given:

    x^2 - 4y^2 = 1.

I need to say which conic section it is (circle, parabola, ellipse, hyperbola). I am 99% sure it's a hyperbola.

I need it to be in the standard form of a hyperbola equation, which is:

    { (x-h)^2 / a^2 } - { (y-k)^2 / b^2 } = 1

I am having a lot of trouble figuring this out. I need to get rid of the 4 in front of the y, and keep the 1 by itself on the right side. I am pretty sure that this hyperbola is centered around (0,0), so h and k are both 0.

Please help if you can! Thank you.

  • Parabola equation?

"Given the focus (0,3) and a point on the parabola (2,5), write the equation of the parabola."

It seems like there would be two parabolas that fit this criteria. Help!

  • The Double Helix by James D. Watson...?

I need to write a persuasive essay on The Double Helix by James D. Watson. I have to pick a topic from the book, and write about my opinion. I have not finished reading the book; however, so far I have not found anything that is a potential topic.

If you don't understand what I am asking for, here's an example: another book I could have chosen for my class is The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin. If I wrote my essay on that book, the obvious topic would be to argue for or against evolution.

So I need a topic that I can argue, that pertains to The Double Helix.

Any ideas are welcomed. Thank you!
