what are some highlights of things to do in vegas?

so i might be tagging along with a friend whose going to a conference in vegas for a couple days, 3-5. i know there is tons of stuff to do there but im looking for what you "cant miss" cause i dont travel often b/c im cheap and busy. to give you an idea of me im a 21yr old college kid. ill prolly spend one day doing lame touristy stuff like the grand canyon b/c i cant spend the whole time at the bar, besides i could do that here.

anyone know of a cool way to do the GC? also what cant i miss?

Update:

it'll be the end of march, ie spring break for colleges on quarters. but im not necessarily looking for the spring break experience even though a little bit of one will definitely happen

See all the free shows. On the Strip don't miss the Sirens of TI, the Bellagio fountains and the new improved Mirage volcano.

Go downtown in the evening a see the Fremont Street Experience. While there be sure to go to the Golden Gate and have one of their famous shrimp cocktails and listen to the piano man.

Gamble a little. Play the penny slots and at least a few bucks at the tables. Roulette is really fun, but craps has the best odds.

Eat a reallly cheap buffet like Circus Circus and also eat at a really nice one such as the buffet at Bellagio, the Mirage or Mandalay Bay's.

Also be sure to find a steak and lobster special. You won't eat lobster this cheap anywhere else.

See a show. I'd recommend a Cirque du Soleil show. I personally like "O" and "Mystere" the best.

Be very careful while walking along the LV Strip as we have many accidents involving pedestrians getting hit by cars for obvious reasons (people gawking walking and while driving)

There are many GC here. Try one close by such as Little Darlings on Industrial.

Don't drink too early in the day or you'll poop out and miss the fun stuff at night such as going to a club like Prive or Pure.

    Have fun and be safe.

you'll also want to stop by some of the interesting types of bars in vegas - carnaval court at harrahs has flare bartenders...also good chance to meet people, Seahorse Lounge at Caesars has a couple dozen kinds of champagne by the glass. Both Harrahs and TI have dueling piano competitions in their piano bars

Rio Hotel has an aerial show that is really interesting - free to watch - every hour on the hour from 7 p.m. to midnight, thur - sun

Las Vegas City Hall has a historic walking tour, Ask the city clerk for a brochure for the self-guided tour. Funky and free

Call House of Blues at Mandalay Bay and ask if they still have their free weekly "Nothing but the Blues" concerts At 9 p.m. every Wednesday,(702) 632-7600. Free.

I was absolutely broke when I had an opportunity to go this past August, but I had an incredible time.

They do helicopter rides to the GC... I don't know how much it costs, but it sounds like one of the best ways to do it.

As for Vegas, see the Bellagio fountain at night... I missed it, but hear it's amazing. Take a ride on the revolving bar in Circus Circus ala Hunter S. Thompson. There's also some nickel slots there and cheap card tables to get your gambling fix in. There's tons of places selling discounted show tickets, if that's something you want to do. My major splurge was a buffet at the Rio, and the rides on top of the Stratosphere (something to be said about a ride that shoots you toward the strip).

Honestly, just walking around at night is pretty incredible, as is exploring every casino. Some of them are really impressive inside.

There are many wonderful and interesting places in Las Vegas where you can go & visit with your friends, such as, inexpensive funny comedy Magic show by Mac King at Harrahs to many free shows like The Aquarium at the Silverton to Bellagio's Botanical Garden or you can visit the World's largest and finest classic car showroom 125,000 sq. feet The Auto Collection at Imperial Palace. There are many large shopping malls like Las Vegas Outlet Center to Galleria at Sunset. I usually visit this informative website: http://www.going-lasvegas.com/ to get most of my information on where to go and shop in Las Vegas. Good Luck and have a great time with your friends in Las Vegas!

You can see a free circus act over at Circus Circus, sounds corny, but it is actually very entertaining even for adults. Sometimes the front desk at he hotel will have GC passes for free. They will also have plenty of other free activities and sometimes free or discounted show passes, you just have to check.
