Christmas is not biblical it is a tradition of men. It is an insult to Jesus Christ to celebrate and share his day with pagan worship. Even to divulge in drink, excesses and debt. The hanging of pagan decorations such as holly, ivy and mistletoe and decorated trees even in church buildings.

Jesus was not born on December 25th. The Bible gives no indication of the exact day of his birth but probably around October because of the record that the shepherds were sleeping out in the fields at night. December would of been too cold (Luke 2:8).

Yet I observe the memorial of his death which the Bible clearly records the date of that memorial of Nisan 14 (Luke 22) the night of the Passover. So you can see what the Bible reveals as being of important for christians to remember the day of his death, that Jesus came to sacrifice his innocent life for his people.

And to add importance and authorisation to this, Jesus himself commands in Luke 22:19 "to keep on doing this in remembrance" of him, this is the valid reason why Jehovah's Witnesses keep this sacred annual observance at sundown of the Jewish date of Nisan 14.

You cannot in purity and truth christianize a pagan celebration.

    2 Corinthians 6:17

“‘Therefore get out from among them, and separate yourselves,’ says Jehovah, ‘and quit touching the unclean thing’”; “‘and I will take YOU in.’

So how can you be seperating yourself if you share the pagan day of Saturnalia and Christmas together - even sharing in the emblems of unclean worship.

What sharing does Christ have with false worshippers?

    2 Corinthians 6:14-16

Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness? Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what portion does a faithful person have with an unbeliever? And what agreement does God’s temple have with idols?

In truth Christmas is a worldly celebration than a true Christian holiday something that christendom will answer for.

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of the Christ - Jesus of Nazareth.

However, if you want to know more in depth do some research. In reality based on information that is known (the time of the census decree given by Augustus, the time it would take for them to find out, then leave and get to Bethlehem, etc) His birth would have been closer to July than December I believe. It was a date that was set later, though, as December 25th. I don't know why, though I've read it before.

There's lots of stereotypes about Christmas too, that you might check out since you seem curious. For example, nobody knows how many wise men there were - at least 3, but could have been 50. He was more likely than not born in a cave (no, the manger story isn't false, but shepherds typically used caves to shelter their animals at night) and there's a specific cave that's been designated as where they think it was. There's lots to be found out if you look to sources further than parents and the average church member :-)

But generally speaking, yes it's the birth of Jesus, that's why we celebrate it.

BUT more importantly, it's a celebration of His death for our sins. That's essentially what the literal translation of Christmas is... Christ-mass and a mass is essentially a sacrificial offering, and modernly a catholic mass contains the eating of the flesh and drinking of the blood of Jesus (of course only in representation and remembrance)

Therefore by definition it's a celebration of His death.

I think it was changed to December to overwhelm an old pagan holiday that people had been celebrating, and they couldn't celebrate both at once, so the date was moved and the people were able to be moved to celebrate Christmas instead of the pagan celebration.

I could be wrong, it's been a while since I read up on it, but I think that's the jist of it.

Christmas is the time of year when the birth of christ is celebrated yeah, but it is probably not the actual birth date.

Christmas is the mass for Christ.

It is thought his actual birth was in the mid part of the year. Some say October, although I did just read he was born in June.

When the Christian church was establishing it tried to stamp out Paganism but wasn't succeeding so instead took their festivals for their own use.

December 21 was the shortest day of the year (northern hemishere) and there were festivals then.

Easter celebrates spring (hence the eggs, chickens and bunny's)

For many, it was; for some, it wasn't; others aren't sure. For me it doesn't matter. Let Christmas be for those who define what it was. If there's no command nor prohibition, use your discretion: "To every man according to his several ability" (Matthew 25:15).

To celebrate or not to celebrate the birth of Christ is a matter of personal persuasion -- not indoctrination: "Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind." (Romans 14:5b). I celebrate the birth of Christ as a matter of gratitude -- by way of thanksgiving, as we're admonished to "be ye thankful" (Colossians 3:15).

In good faith, this should be done by "him that knoweth to do good" (James 4:17), and this is ought to be done on our own accord (Isaiah 1:19; 6:8).

Christmas is actually a PAGAN holiday. Most people are sheep and just follow and never really do any research. If you really research christmas, easter, halloween, you will find these are all pagan holidays. Shows how little research people do. Sad and pathetic. I would recommend people watch the documentary "ASTRO-THEOLOGY" - by Jordan Maxwell

its free on google video and i will provide a link for anyone interested..definitely worth the watch.
