Switching formulas? ?

Hello moms and dads:)

Just a question if any one has tried this...

My babies have been on Alimentum and/or Nutramigen (the hypoallergenic formulas) due to a milk protein allergy. The Dr. today told us to try NEstle Good start with comfort proteins now and see if they are over the allergy. YEs - I am going to follow the Dr. orders and try it (I do know that he is an educated Dr and knows more than me:)

But, I just wanted to know if anyone had experience with this - has anyone switched from the hypoalergenics to nestle? If so, what was your experience?

My girls are 4 months old - and started on the nutramigen/allimentum when they were 6 weeks.

Any insight would be great:)

I switched from goodstart to enfamil when my son was 2 weeks old and he took it really bad i guess because of the sudden change he became very colicky. I would do like an ounce of nutramigen then the rest nestle then slow add more nestle everyday. good luck hope your girls do better on nestle =)

I switched from similac advance to nestle good start and he immediately became more gassy and irritable. ( at 4 mos) He would drink 5 oz bottles before and after switch he would only get through an oz or two before screaming for 10 min. So I switched him back to similac and within 3 days he was back to his old happy self ( I switched because people told me nestle is better and gentler to babys belly.. well not to my babys)

if your babies are sensitive do the switch very slowly. start with 1/2 and per bottle per day and then slowly increase when it seems that they are accepting the new formula. I had to do this with my daughter. Overall it took about 3 weeks to get her fully switched over. I would always increase her when she pooped. This told me that her body is accepting the new formula and she wasn't constipated. I have tried to switch her over cold turkey and she would be so constipated. Take your time, there is no need to rush

I had to switch from the alimentum to the soy. i had to do it gradually cuz she didn't like the taste but she loves it now and wont eat anything else. she has a milk allergy and it took me awhile to figure it out, though she did better on the alimentum.
