Any chance I DON'T have to have a C-Section?

I had my 32 week check up with my GP yesterday and he told me that from feeling my stomach that I was definitely having a big baby and that my consultant was probably going to want to 'get this moving faster than full term'. I asked him how big and he said that he couldn't tell exactly but definitely over 9lbs at a guess.

I had a C-Section for my first and really wanted a VBAC for my little boy. Is there any chance that this is still possible if they decide to get him out at 38 weeks? Has anyone been induced with a VBAC? I know its not recommended but just wanted anyone's experiences really. I have an appointment with my consultant at 36 weeks so can't really speak to him before this..

If i were you, i would not allow them to do ANYTHING without first getting an ultrasound and an accurate assessment of the baby's size.

If they manage to induce you early enough, the baby may be small enough (7lbs) to try a VBAC.

You're allowed to argue with your health care providers, and tell them what outcome you WANT.

have they give you a scan! as they can determine a little better the weight and size of baby by measuring as that's what im having done! i have my 32 wk and 4 day check up on thurs having a ultrasound done to measure baby 9lb seems to be quite big especially for them to determine that now only at 32 weeks? would of thought if you are having a 9lb baby it probably would be best to have a c-section as that's a big baby to push out and bigger babies tend to have more problems coming down birth canal etc... they`re the experts at the end of the day they will be putting you and baby 1st! good luck

my mum's water broke without signs of labour, so after 24 hours she was induced with the oxyticin drip, she had a VBAC, and all went well

  • If your doctor will not honor your wishes than i would find one that will. You do have the right to try what you want first. good luck.
