Discuss the significance of the play within a play - the love story of Pyramus and Thisbe, how this mirrors the subplots and reinforces the main themes.
Most productions (not all) have Hippolyta and the Duke playing Titana and Oberon - they never appear in the same scenes. It is worth chucking this in to be able to talk about the two authority figures and their very different love stories.

How about the idea that you can't help who you fall in love with. Students can show how this is true by giving examples of Hermia and Lysander and Helena's devotion to Demetrius and they can show this is false by talking about how the juice that Puck put on the men's eyes caused them both to fall in love with Helena.
Source(s): I just finished a Shakespeare class for my major requirement and one of the plays we studied was A Midsummer Night's Dream. Also, I did an paper for this class on the play.
