Would you buy a used Boppy pillow?
I have heard a ton of great things about a Boppy, and have been looking for one for my second child. I've seen some great deals on used Boppys on craigslist, but I'm not sure if it is something that can be cleaned and sanitized if I buy it used. I didn't have one with my oldest, so I'm not really sure what it is made out of or if it can be cleaned. Would you buy a used one, and why or why not?

Definitely not. A boppy is basically just a pillow in a convenient shape for nursing. It is going to come with all the dirt, dust, allergens, lice (let's hope not!), etc. that were in the house it came from. I am considering replacing mine becauase it has been sitting on my shelf for 2 years collecting dust.

I would buy a used Boppy. They're made out of the same material as any regular pillow so you can wash and dry it but then to add to it, they also come with different slip covers so you can add an extra layer of protection. I wouldn't use it without washing it first. If you're not fully comfortable buying one used be assured that the money you spend on a new one is still worth it. I use ours for breastfeeding, tummy time when my little guy was a bit younger and now to help him sit supported when we watch movies and what not.

My daughter dribbled a ton of milk on her boppy, and even though I would wash the cover and febreeze the pillow itself I know there is still dried milk and bacteria in there... I'm not sure I'll want to use the pillow for my second child after the pillow has sat in the closet for a couple years...
I wouldn't buy one used... and I love to shop secondhand baby stuff...

they sell so many boppy slipcovers for it so if it's a good deal I would buy it. I'm almost certain the Boppy can be thrown into the washer so as long as it's washed and has a fresh slipcover on it, you'll be fine. The Boppy's are great!!!!!!

We didn't really use our Boppy much. They are made entirely of cloth. The covers can be taken off and washed and I'm sure the inside can be put in the washing machine. I would think that the stuffing would get bunched up though and it would look like it had been washed. My suggestion is to buy a new one.

I'm not sure what a "Boppy pillow" is, but I wouldn't buy a used pillow.

I bought a used boppy. I have a sanitizer mode on my washer that I used. I also saw what house and who used it before me...they were clean healthy people.

sure I would...it is basically a pillow-made out of fabric. wash it in detergent and throw in some color safe bleach and a dash of vinegar to eliminate any germs and possible smells from the bleach. I also would set it out in the sun to dry or hang it on the line. this sun will also help to kill and bacteria present. I didn't breast feed my daughter which is what they are made for but I did use it to helpme sleep and then when my daughter got here it propped her in it on the bed so she could see a little bit and feel a part of everything. I aso found that it was great for tons of stuff other then that.
