Does anyone have a recipe for a champagne cork?

Years ago, I had a bakery item called a champagne cork at a cafe in Helsinki, Finland. Basically, it was a sponge cake shaped like a champagne cork that had been drenched in champagne. It was so good! I have tried to duplicate the recipe at home, but I can't get it quite right. I am obviously missing something, but I have no idea what. Has anyone ever had this before? Does anyone have a recipe, or does anyone know where I could purchase some of these? I remember how good they were and get these sudden cravings for one. I would love to have one again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I came upon your question when you first asked & I have to say I was intrigued...I'd never heard of one...but it sounds delicious, so I looked for the recipe...nothing. But I did find recipes for "sponge cake drenched" in rum syrup & coffee...maybe the cafe had just put their own twist on one of those type recipes...if I were you I'd look for similar recipes paying special attention to the ingredients you remember other than the champagne...maybe you'll have better luck??...then just substitute (rum syrup, coffee, whatever main ingredient) with champagne...good luck...hope it helped. I figure it's worse than no feedback on your question at all, ya know.

    Again Good Luck!
