I have a Directv DVR, how do I make a DVD with my notebook computer's DVD recorder?

Well, that about says it. A friend was on a tv program and I want to give her a copy as a gift for her own personal viewing. It's on my DVR, which has lots of outputs, but what device do I need to bring it to my notebook and make a copy for her?
