why did the King James Translators want us to learn hebrew?

Why does anyone tell you to be reading the sayings of The God of Abraham, no matter what languages they maybe written in, but the closer to the orginal the purer the thought and the understanding. Maybe it is just to hard for you, or to much trouble.

There must be some reason that ALL translations start with the orginal. Dah!

i have read "The Translators to the Reader" several times, and I don't recall ever getting the impression that they wanted anyone to learn Hebrew (or Aramaic or Greek)! I searched (briefly) for a quote resembling your statement, but found none. I wish you would give a more specific reference - I don't really feel inclined to re-read the entire thing in hopes of finding something similar to that which you are paraphrasing.

I would say that the translation of two Hebrew words - each found in one instance - into a single English word is not justification for learning an entire language - especially when synonyms are such a common feature of most languages.

yet all the philosophers assert and affirm vehemently that the ancient greek must be studied,

and they taunt the unlearned with this trash, and

deliberately omit to inform the reader, that the supposed ancient Greek is only Koiine, just an old style of Greek with slight modifications to spelling and sentence structure.

what letter? I don't have that version.. I have kjv and it doesn't say a letter to the reader.. nelson it's the person or company which prints the Bible.. I don't know what kjv..
