ALIENWARE IS JUNK. Yes you can customize what ever system you buy from them to do video editing (i actually set mine up for audio/video) however they will overcharge for everypart they install, and god forbid anything goes wrong with it while its under warranty (happens 75% of the time). You NEVER want to have to deal with the morrons in they're customer support department. I went through 2 yrs of hell dealing with them, and the end result is a report filed with the BBB, possible lemonlaw lawsuit against them, and a $5000 piece of junk that can only be used as a paperweight. You can google alienware yourself, and read some of the horror stories, that made people vow, never to buy Alienware again. http://www.badsoftware.com/alienwaresucks/
Most video editors actually go with a Mac G4 (although now its the Mac Pro they all use or upgrade to). Mac is pretty much the standard in the TV / Movie industries.
Basically if you want a good PC for video editing, you have a few options. You could build your own setup, http://www.jakeludington.com/ask_jake/20050420_bui...
But my suggestion is go with Dell. Since Dell bought out Alienwares namebrand, they started creating more systems designed for gaming, or audio/video editing. And Dell is usually cheaper.
Keep in mind tho, no matter where you get a system from, if its for video editing, it will get pricey.

You could probably get a better PC for video editing if you build it yourself, really, with the graphics card and memory it would be okay. Any computer is good for video editing, technically macs are superior in that department.

Also, Alienware kinda suck for customer support.
Had nothing but problems when getting my laptop off them.
