is dale jr over rated?

Hell yeah he's overrated. People think he's great because he won 2 busch titles. Look at who his competion was then. There were no cup guys running the full busch series then and there were no big named teams going for the title either. Others say he's great because he won the Daytona 500. Well sterling marlin did it 2 times and you'll never here anyone say anything great about him. The last great winner of the Daytona 500 was Derrick Cope. He was the last winner of the Daytona 500 b4 they went to grouping the pack together and the only way of winning it was being at the right place at the right time. Jr. has never done anything great ever. NASCAR gave him the win at michigan this year and without him being a member of the lucky sperm club he'd be changing tires at the quick lube.

But i agree with what some have already stated, He didnt get anything handed to him. SR made him work his way up. Did he have a better car than most in the busch? probably but thats not his fault.

he is the most popular because when SR. died, who was all his fans goign to pull for?

He may never win a championship but he is a good driver or he wouldnt be in Cup no matter who is daddy was but he is overrated because everyone thinks he is one of the best.

The 500 is not a good arguement.....any dumbass with a good car can win the 500.....Jimmie Spencer won two of them. When they were harder to win than now. And Derrick Cope. And don't forget Michael Waltrip won two of them, so I guess he's better than Jimmie right?

Restrictor plate races are a crap shoot. They don't mean anything except a trophy.

Now, the Championships. Yeah, he won 3. But, primarily because of a stupid contrived point system that he's used to his advantage. The chase is a joke. And they will probably come up with some other reason to alter it to get the results they want like making it 12 instead of 10

No He is not over rated at all. No he has not been handed everything with a silver spoon he has probably had to work harder than other drivers. Have you not watched Sportscentury on ESPN Classic about his life? His Dad made him fix his racecars and put them back together from top to bottom before he could race again. He made him get his own rides to and from the track. Jr. was not handed anything get your story straight before you go saying things that are not true.

No, I do not think Jr. is overrated. I just think he is a humble guy who wants to race and wants the media to just let him be. Jimmie Johnson is cool, he could very well win next year the Championship. Kyle Busch is cool too. He can drive the crap out of a car and make it happen.

No Jr didn't get **** handed to him on a SILVER PLATTER. If that was the case he would of won a championship by now. Jr has worked his *** off the get were he is. So you need to go back and do some research before you go making accusations that aren't true.

Over rated!Now that is an over statement.As a Busch driver he was on his way to being the best.When Dale Sr brought him up he was on the way to be the next superstar.After Dale Sr died,Junior lost sight of the priorities and has not advanced but stayed an upper mid pack driver.

Extremely...think about it...the only reason he's still around is he lives off his daddys name...he couldn't win a race if he was the only driver on the track!!!!. Wished he'd never come over to the Hendricks team.

To say that Jr was handed anything is completely insulting to the Intimidator's legacy. Sr was not the type to hand anyone anything, not even his kids. Jr had to work for what he's got now. Jr also won Daytona in his 5th season thank you and Jimmie's had better equipment his entire career, not to mention Jr won his first Cup race in his first 6 starts, Kyle took 32 starts to do that. Number of Championships won in any NASCAR series Jr-2, Kyle- 0. Jr is the first one to admit he's not his father, nor does he want to be.

A Reed Sorenson fan calling Jr overrated, now that's funny and comparing him to Mears and Jamie Mac, that's even funnier, Jr had more wins in his first 2 years running in Cup than anyone of those three have in 12 years combined.

I think this question is overrated, leave the poor guy alone. I am not a Junior fan in the least sense of the word, but seriously, maybe he isnt the best racer but he has won at Daytona and that isnt an easy race to win at.
