Some questions about the use of public restrooms with small kids of the opposite sex?

Can a dad go to a women’s public restroom because his little daughter needs to go?

He surely cannot take his daughter to the men’s public restroom…

Can a mom go to a men’s public restroom because her little boy needs to go?

When the little boy does not want to go to the women’s restroom because he’s a boy.

Is there any age requirement in all of this?

Update:

Have you heard about that 9-year old boy killed in an airport restroom? I cannot find the article but I found one similar, that happened 10 years ago...the boy was also 9 and the aunt was waiting outside the door or the men's restroom.

i know my child better than anyone else and i base what we do on our level of comfort. different places and situations will get different answers. for example:

if i am at kmart where there is one toilet and restroom for each gender, i will allow my son to use the mens restroom while i stand outside the door.

if i am at pier 49 in san francisco where there are several toilets for each gender and a line out to the ocean i would want to take my 8 and 11 yr old boys with me into the womens restroom. both of them would probably pitch a fit about going into the girls room so i would likely have to find a restaurant for them to go in and use the facilities. in all honesty, i wouldn't care if anyone had a problem with this in the ladies room because my child's safety and well being comes first. all the ladies have doors on their stalls anyway.

this is how it has been for us since the boys were able to pull down their own pants and wash their hands without my assistance.

A dad must take his young daughter into the men's restroom, never the women's and a mom should take her son into the women's restroom.

If the son or daughter complain to this arraignment, they are too old to need to be escorted and the parent should wait for them outside the proper restroom door.

I don't know of any age requirement.

Obviously, it's easier for a mom to bring a son into the ladies room, since any women in there would be using private stalls, and your son can go into a private stall.

Bringing a girl in the mens room is not easy, and dad's can't go into the ladies room. My dad used to just stand outside the door and wait for me.

A lot of places now have a family bathroom for such issues.

Usually, the parent takes their child into the restroom of their own sex. It is less of a big deal for a child to be in a bathroom of the other sex than an adult.

Once a boy hits 5 or 6 he shouldnt be using the womens bathrooms.

well, they should be taking their child to the rest room of the parent's gender. At the swimming pools people over the age of six cannot go into the other gender's restroom.

Why can't a dad take his daughter to the men's public restroom? There are toilets there, it's not all urinals.

    Hi !

if woman got a little boy , post to bring boy to woman wash room , if man got a little girl must bring little girl to Man wash room .

Five is usually the age limit - but more and more places now have family rooms or a special room for handicapped persons. i would use those facilities.
