Are gel-pack fireplaces safe for Parrots?

I would like to get one,but no one, including my avian vet can tell me for sure if they are safe. They are gel-packs made from alcohol and are supposed to be odor and fume-free.I have posted this question to various web sites that are parrot-specific which are loaded with good info, but none of them know anything about these fireplaces.

Thank you.

Update:

My parrots would not come into direct contact with the gel-packs.They do not filter odors like other creatures,so for that reason, everything I use in the house to cook or clean with has to be parrot-safe.No Teflon;no Febreeze, etc. It is the air they would breathe after a gel-pack is lit that concerns me.

My educated guess is that they're safe as long as the alcohol doesn't touch the skin for a prolonged amount of time. If it's completely contained in the packing, then it should be OK.
