I don't know, but I'd like to write a ballot initiative banning shellfish and blended fabrics as abominations.

Of course, I like point made that people who disapprove of homosexuality are not necessarily homophobic. I agree. But they stubbornly resist the idea that other people don't agree, and refuse to acknowledge or entertain the reality that allowing gays to marry takes nothing from them. The proper term for that is "bigot." So you don't like homophobic because it's not an accurate description? Fine. Bigot is the proper desription.

We are not a democracy. We have never been a democracy. We are a republic. Yes, some states constitutionally allow voters to amend the state constitution by super-majority. That does not mean that the process cannot be abused, as it has been in this case in California and Florida.

Had the voters spoken at the time, blacks would still be slaves, women wouldn't vote, and inter-racial marriage would still be illegal.

Bigots one and all, who respect the process only insofar as they can use it to force people to comply with values they won't adopt voluntarily.

EDIT--as far as what they would do the next time, they'll piss and moan about activist judges like they always do. Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly will do the same thing. Then the "voters" (I use the term loosely to mean "religious based pressure group who uses misinformation, fear, and rumor to dupe the population into voting their way in the name of Jesus and decency") will try again next election cycle.

I think the term homophobia is funny. Apparently it means an irrational fear of homosexuals, but I have never seen anyone like that. Liberals and homosexuals slap that label on anyone who disapprove of the homosexual lifestyle. Is everyone who dislikes homosexuality suffering from a psychological disorder?

Prop 8 was voted on. The people decided that Gay Marriage was not okay for the state of California. Should I call all homosexuals demophobiacs because they don't like how democracy works?

They might take the issue to the US Supreme Court.

Well, you can see some of their answers right here. Hidihg behind the "democracy - people have voted" is one of them. Blacks got their rights through precisely the same process (and yes, the initial votes were failing, and yes, there were protests... it is all in the history books).

They'll probably direct their energies toward getting an amendment to the US constitution passed. This effort will fail.

  • Try in another state, and the process starts all over again. But they'll probably do a rewording.

Attempt to turn the government into a theocracy will be their next move

Crying in the streets and being like those crazies who wear their wool socks for mittens, screaming that the rapture is coming. I hope a good video of it ends up on YouTube.
