Can I install windows xp on my laptop?

I have two computers with xp on them. My laptop got very sick and now will not run. I try to boot it up and it freezes before I can get anywhere to fix it. So, because I don't have rescue disks for the laptop, can I use the install disks from my desktop computer and reinstall the xp on there?

No, when you get an XP Install disk it can be used once because of the license key... Besides the fact that when a Windows disc comes with a specific PC it is for THAT brand and model of PC.

For the past several years most manufactures have been putting the Windows XP product key on the computer itself. If so you can use a generic version of windows but still use the legal product key from your computer. However you might not be able to use a Dell restore CD on a HP computer for example. Sometimes if it says: "restore cd" then it might be specific to the computer. But if it just says "windows" then you'll probably be ok as long as you have a good product key.

The answer is No! you can not use any other computer recovery CD at least it is the same as yours. but what you can do is boot your computer in safe mode so you will be able to fix it. to do that restart you laptop and B4 windows logo appears on screen press F8 then choose SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING so you can use internet.
