Is my body producing enough blood?

I had a baby 6 weeks ago, and have had heavy bright red blood, and just found out I had retained placenta material, it has been removed and now I am on methergine to contract my uterus and control bleeding.

My question is, with all the blood I have lost, and the amount Im still losing is my body producing more blood as I lose it, or should I be worrie about losing too much blood? The doctors dont seem to concerned, but I am! I dont know how the blood production and circulation works...

Oh Hun i had the same thing after my twins were born it happened three times i had post partem hemorrhages and was rushed in after the third time i was given a blood test and it was determined i needed a blood transfusion, you would know Hun i was really rough light headed and so tired, i was also given a blood test after the transfusion and then given more blood, if your doctor was worried they would have tested your blood count, if your worried i would call your GP

    Best of luck

Your body can produce blood quite quickly when it needs to - remember that if you donate blood, they take a pint out all at once (which is a lot of blood compared to what you'd lose through most vaginal bleeding) and you're fine to do even demanding jobs the next day.

I think the main issue might be becoming anemic - did the doctor test your iron levels? Even if they are fine, you might want to make an effort to eat lots of iron-rich foods.

But, of course, if you are concerned or are feeling faint etc. you should speak to your doctor again.

I would say that your body is probably producing enough blood! I have been a medical assistant for years and i bet you would be able to tell just by being overly fatigued. I would call your doctor just to be sure, but if there not worried, and u trust your doctor, then take their word for it, and dont stress about it, one less thing to worry about. Good Luck!
