Because it's only unclean for Jews. Most Gentiles (other than Muslims)_can still eat it, always have been able to.
And who knows, maybe pigs have another purpose in life besides just being food for someone.

God didn't declare pigs unclean in order to teach us about pigs. He did it to show us something about Himself. A pig is just a pig. But it is a carnivore/scavenger, making it's living on death. The people of the Living God were not to consume animals that fed on death. There are other theological reasons why the pig was declared unclean, but this is the main one.

show me the verse were it says that.
If it is true that what you are saying, then here is my answer: the pig was clean before Adam and Eve sinned, and made most of the animals unclean. Then God told Noah to bring 2 of every kind of animal on the ark, so pigs reproduced.

All a part of His plan. The same reason He put a tree that was forbidden in front of Adam and Eve. We have to freedom to choose to obey God or disobey God. God says not to eat pigs because He said they are unclean. It's all about obedience.

The Old Testament declares the pig unclean simply to prevent the "bronze age" folks from eating it in case they did not fully cook it.
It was easier to declare it off limits, than it was to teach "bronze age" people about trichinosis, a parasitic disease caused by eating raw or undercooked pork.

Why did God create the AIDS virus? Why did he create peyote? Or cocaine? Or people that become serial murderers?
There's a lot of stuff in the world that is here for a reason, but not a good reason.

They are very tasty, thats why. Shrimp, lobster and crawfish too. You would have to speak to Muslims and Jews about the rest, the unclean part.
