Where's the beef, I mean, the money?

The Government earmarked $700 billion for the bailout effort of failing banks. We the tax payer are the suppliers of this money and we work hard in a deflated market for this money. We have to live and pay bills on usually to little and each month we have too much month left and not enough money.

We put our money in the banks and write checks to those we owe and if we spend more than we have the bank charges us for the overdraft. We are required to keep track of our cash flow and if we fail we are penalized, therefore we must be accountable for each little penny or the bank hangs us out to dry.

Now I am not opposed to helping the banks, the auto makers or anyone else, but should they not be held to the same standard that the bank holds us to? Should not the banks not be held accountable for each little penny of the money we gave them?

The same banks that require us to keep tabs on our money don't know where all the bailout money is going, and say they won't discuss it with reporters, stated AP reporter Matt Apuzzo in an article on internet news.

Update:

dan, this was why I posted this. I know where it's going but many don't and many are blind to the corruption.

Update 2:

Bryan, we can always hope memories are longer than their arms.

Update 3:

sharlitz, those of us who are observant know our history. It is the blind I wish to enlighten.

Update 4:

Bad guy, you are so correct on all points. This is not a new phenomema but the same old stuff that has been around since mankind. It is called greed and hunger for power through slavery of the oppressed.

Update 5:

levon; exactly why I posted it. Too many people think this is a new thing, but it has been an ongoing almost secret thing for years. They say ignorance is bliss and for years the American people have been very blissful.

Update 6:

Chief, you are on the dot again as usual. I would say 'on the money' but the bank have all of it.

Since the F.D.I.C. is supposed to insure the banks, I wonder why they didn't cover the loses?

Update 7:

Doc, you like some of the others make perfect or near perfect sense. Being a history buff myself, I have understood this for years. In each empire throughout history the downfall is usually from enternal causes, moreso than external.

Update 8:

Bluelotu, Get an automatic nail gun and disconnect the safety. It looks like my little question has riled the busy bees and have them buzzing mad.

The tax payer needs answers from the top down.

Update 9:

That sounds good to me , Biichi-g. But to send them to the moon, they would have to pay for it themselves because we can' afford to send them. They done took our money.

Ya know, that's a damned good question! My daughter overdrew her account by SIX CENTS and her bank charged her THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS! and yes I am yelling!

This whole thing has become a big Joke! You know what this reminds me of? All these bailouts I mean..it reminds me of all the corrupt dictators that we have seen over the last 50yrs who have stolen their peoples money, shipped it to over-seas accounts and just when their country is about to collapse from within, they get immunity from prosecution and in fact they are allowed asylum and provided protection from another corrupt gang of politicians in power in some country like Argentina or Lybia or The United States Of America!

You see what I'm saying? The mental picture I get is this huge safe with the door blown off and a frantic crowd of Suits pushing and shoving and throwing elbos while stuffing their pockets and briefcases and glancing back over their shoulders..hurry..hurry..before someone catches on!

Iwas looking at your link and I typed in the word Bail-Out and I want everyone to look at the following list and see if You See Your Name Anywhere On It?????

My point here is that if you are a somewhat responsible person in America today you are just screwed and ignored!

You got me fired up with this question! I've seen a similar story but this has gotten to be such a huge free-for-all that a lot of this stuff just goes over your head!

I better stop before I say something that gets me into trouble. All I know is that we may be getting Raped but we don't have to just lay down and LIKE IT!

The very fact that the banks are refusing to discuss the use of taxpayer funds allotted to them is extremely distressing, but not really surprising. I don't know why anyone is surprised that chronic mismanagement which lead to the crises in the first place would just be resolved by simply throwing money at the bad managers. Sadly there is no recourse for the taxpayers because Congress did not properly account for tracking this money, or how the allocated funds would be used. We were told that this would be used to keep the credit markets open and flowing, but increasingly I continue to hear that people still cannot get credit. Face facts you have been party to the largest bait and switch scam in American history. I hope people will remember this in the next election and vote out anyone who voted for a bailout. I did this in the last election and will do the same in the next election.

  • We, the taxpayers are so hosed. Every single bailout so far, hasn't worked. Paulson is a disgrace and has no idea what he's doing. Bernanke is caught in a time warp. The AIG and bank bailouts - the executives are getting their bonuses and perks are being paid out of it. The Big 3 CEO's supposedly working for 1 dollar? Sorry. Not true. They are raiding the funds of the company which means we will be paying for it.

The fish stinks from the head down. I am so ready to get my pitch fork, belt on a nail bag with my trusty hammer, and march my fanny up to DC.

As important as it is to understand economics, I think it's probably more important, or at least *as* important, to learn history.

One of your answerers said something about Jewish bankers. This is a dangerous path to choose to walk down and one of the reason we remain in our present quagmire.

We are conditioned to blame groups of people. Those who condition us all share one position in society: they are of the ruling class. They like to pretend they don't exist; that there is no ruling class. They feed us garbage from the moment we can ingest it (since our parents were fed this same garbage, they feed us with it from birth!) Some examples: "We are a government of, by, and for the people." and "We are the greatest country on earth" and "We are free!" etc.

The only "classes" they allow us to believe in are those separated by wealth: The upper, lower and middle. And they desire that we fight among ourselves and blame the various economic classes (and ethnic groups) for any economics woes we experience.

And, for the most part, this is what we do.

Now some will argue with me by citing The Bilderbergs or the Rockefellers and that's all well and good, but THAT history is useless and counter-productive to the realization of a solution.

The ONLY viable solution is the recognition and realization of the fact that we are governed when we should be served. And this is the history of which I speak; the history, going back to the years preceding 1215 and the reasons for the signing at Runnymede, the history of the reasons for the Declaration of Independence, and many more important historical lessons than anyone wants to bother looking at here on this forum. (some stuff here: http://jim.com/)

Before we attempt a "revolution" I think it's best we recognize who our enemy is. Revolutions are usually rather bloody and uncomfortable and often the wrong people end up under the guillotine and after the dust settles the revolutionists become the oppressors and nothing improves and actually things become even worse.

Its not a 700 billion dollar bailout...its an 8.8 TRILLION DOLLAR

    TAXPAYER BAILOUT.

Lets start asking the real questions...why the hell does Bernanke and The Frederal Reserve Banking System have more power over this country than our elected officials?

I think we are going down as a country unless the people chose to start educating themselves on economics and our current monetary system.

I really hate to use this term for I don't like its message, but I see a revolt coming in this country, People are tired of getting there *** kicked, and

being driven into the ground and pinned down, Maybe its time for the

American people to stand outside the glass doors of the Ivory towers

and make there damn lives totally miserable, and take to the streets

with the anger they did over social issues in the 60's. We are being

screwed to the wall, and no one at government level is paying attention

or seems to care., beyond the rhetoric level.

I've already said when I run out of month, I'd like to have a little money left. I think the government needs to do it as well. Perhaps We the People, We the Paycheck, should hold them accountable. Let's send them the bill, with suitable charges 'for services'.

And I think we need to get loud, get mad, and get even with every money grubbing politico who voted aye for the bailout and then, DUH, watched bovine like, cud achew, while they top execs skittered off with Our Hard Earned Money for a lovely trip to the Bahamas or wherever. Perhaps a trip "to the Moon, Alice". ?

One way, no return allowed. Let's send 'em all, and let God sort 'em out.
