All surgeries have a risk. Having a myomectomy is definitely better than a hysterectomy. If you are having reservations about the surgery I would recommend finding a Naturopathic doctor who can shrink the tumors with herbs.

I had fibrocyctic breast disease and used Myomin. Herbal remedies are used for a short length of time unlike Western medicine where you take something for years - and sometimes still have the same symptoms.

Another useful herbal remedy is Women in Balance. I admit they aren't cheap, but neither is the cost of hospitalization; not to mention pain from your recovery. Herbal remedies (like Western medicine) can be trial and error until you find what will work best for you.

If you decide to go ahead with the myomectomy, get a second (third, or fourth) opinion until all your concerns are addressed. I went in for a myomectomy and ended up getting a hysterectomy. I also went into menopause immediately after surgery. No one told me that could happen. I then took Premarin for 15 years. The drug companies recommend 5 years. Coming off the Premarin awful, but I stuck with it. Another issue I had after the hysterectomy was high blood pressure. Once the internal organs are removed the body doesn't have ALL the parts that work together to function. Doctors don't tell you that either.

I know that having the symptoms you're having may muddy your thought process as you might just want the problem to be over with, but what is another month of discomfot while doing your research compared to the rest of your life on drugs to control other symptoms caused by the surgery?

Best of luck in resolving your situation.
