Are climate scientists environmentalists?

Do they even side with environmentalists in all cases?

Update:

I see that claim a lot in rants on Yahoo Answers. Is there any evidence for or against it?

Update 2:

Funny that all of the people who throw that phrase around so often are suddenly silent...

Update 3:

Let's see what one prominent climate scientist has to say about environmentalists:

"It is essential that dogmatic ‘environmentalists’, opposed to all nuclear power, not be allowed to delay the R&D on 4th generation nuclear power. Thus it is desirable to avoid appointing to key energy positions persons with a history of opposition to nuclear power development. Of course, deployment of nuclear power is an option, and some countries or regions may prefer to rely entirely on other energy sources, but opponents of nuclear power should not be allowed to deny that option to everyone."

Climate, scientists do not want environmentalist agendas to be involved at all, since they might block access to critical solutions.

That depends on your definition. I would think that a climate science who saw the dangerous path that we're on with AGW would want to reduce our CO2 emissions. But does wanting to reduce greenhouse gas emissions make a person an environmentalist? I don't see why a climate scientist would necessarily want to preserve the Swainson's hawk, for example (but an environmentalist would).

Even if climate scientists were environmentalists, I don't see what that would have to do with their research. But there's no reason to believe that only environmentalists go into the field of climate science.

Even Joseph Mengala took the Hippocratic Oath.

Some climatologists don't even side with the climate, preferring instead to dispose of all ethos in order to spread distortions of the truth. They do so usually pursuing the temptress monetary gain.

there is a great spectrum of opinions even within the environmentalists, ranging from the head in sand bunny huggers who focus in on individual cute species (you can tell i'm not one of those lol!) to the earth systems thinkers who try to see the big picture. i would think most climate scientists are at that end.

No...they're just EMPLOYED climate scientists if they can justify monitoring uninhabitable regions of the planet 24/7.
