The Sims 2 screen help...no buttons on bottom?
The other day I was playing the Sims 2 and I went to hit the 1, 2 or 3 key to speed/slow the game and I accidentally pressed a bunch of keys. Well, this changed my screen so that I had nothing at the bottom...no faces, no information buttons, nothing. I couldn't save the game or change between characters or anything using my mouse. I couldn't see their stats or ANYTHING...just one big full screen of the Sims and the house. Can someone tell me how I did that and if it ever happens again, how can I correct it, short of "escaping" the game and not saving it.
Come to think of it, I think it's whatever a person presses to do screen shots for websites so that there's nothing on the screen and it looks like a movie still or something. Hope that explains it better.

Err... the buttons you are referring to is called the UCP. Anyways, you might've pressed the TAB button, which lead you to 'cameraman mode'. The UCP will disappear, and in order to 'escape', you press the TAB again.

Yes, you can make your Sims 2 in window. Find your latest Sims 2 Ep/Sp, the one you put the disc in and click the shortcut to start it. Right click it and then click on Properites. Then, in the Target Line under Shortcut, type a space, after what it already has, then put -w and then click Apply. It'll be in permanent windowed mode unless you take the -w out completely. The only bad thing about it is you cant side-scroll but it beats alt+tabbing, then waiting 30 mins for it to load back up again!

There should be a button on the circle on the bottom left corner that expands the menu. If not, you might need to check if there are any hotkeys that expand the menu.
If you think its the button that people press for better screenshots, then you're talking about the Tab button. Just press it again and it'll come back.

Well, you can do either alt tab or tab alt to minimize the Sims 2 (I do it frequently) But when i get it in the wrong order (that also happens frequently) the screen looses the buttons on the bottom. Either press tab or alt (forgot which) and the buttons will come back! Problem solved.
