Are Climate Scientists for or Against Nuclear Power?
Some rants on Yahoo Answers claim that scientists are against nuclear power. Are there any examples of their actual recommendations on that option, one way or the other?

i believe Hansen is for it.
I am, and i reckon most of the people i know recognise it as the lesser of two evils.
i was glad to read that recent letter from hansen to obama you gave the link to* in another question, i thought maybe i was being a bit geekily impractical telling everyone that what we need is a new fast breeder reactor, what with 30 years worth of out of date weapons plutonium to get rid of an all.

oh! thats strange, i was sure i answered a question from you earlier.....did it disappear or is it past my bed time?
oh, and lovelock has been promoting it for years.
i know i'm going to get shouted down, but he counts as a theoretical climate scientist in my book!

Some Climate Scientists support nuclear power, some climate scientists are against nuclear power.

Only Dana would take the word of a flaming liberal as a conservative. Hansen is a liberal. Lots of liberals consider themselves moderate. It doesnt' make them any less liberal. Not all climate scientists are liberals but I would bet that the vast majority of alarmists are.
Note: Interesing. I didn't answer that in this post. That was your previous question. Scientists aren't for or against anything. Scientists are people with many different opinions. I wonder if this edit will appear in the other answer.

James Hansen is perhaps the foremost climate scientist on the planet, and supports nuclear power in the near-term (until renewables can play a big enough role that we don't need nuclear, in his view).
"we should undertake urgent focused R&D programs in...next generation nuclear power"

And the IPCC also considers the option of increasing our use of nuclear power.

So no, there is certainly not a universal opposition to nuclear power among climate scientists.
Personally I think using our resources to increase our use of nuclear power is a mistake (mainly due to the high cost), but I'm not a climate scientist.

You have to admit we're better at building bombs, and WMD's then anything else. I'm just concern about yellow cake mining, and how many breeders it would take to sustain activity of full blown nuke power. Haven't really heard much about the latter.

real Climate Scientists don't think man is responsible for global warming they think the Sun is. How silly is that ha ha.
