Does the 2005 Volkswagen Jetta TDI come with an engine block heater?
I bought a used 2005 Volkswagen Jetta TDI. It has a turbo diesel engine, but it didn't come with the owners manual.
If there is a heater for the engine in my Jetta, where would I find the plug for it?
I am familiar with diesel and gelling temperatures, winterized diesel, etc. I'm just not at all familiar with the engine.

Google frostheater. There is no heater that came with it unless someone added one. Here is a checklist for that car:

A diesel takes longer to warm up (less waste heat) so an engine block heater helps fast warm ups.

I know it is an old posting but please, anyone reading the comment about synthetic oil and not needing block heaters is mis-informed. Synthetic has nothing to do with whether a block heater is required or not. I know in most vehicles in Canada, they come with a block heater installed. We have 3 and every one of them came with one. It would totally depend on the source of the vehicle and where that source was located. Probably does not help you a ton but hopefully lets you know that there is a possibility one may have been installed if from the upper northern regions.

Vw's use Syntetic oil. They do not need an engine block heater.

Optional except in Alaska, and Northern provinces of Canada. If you desire to have one, contact your dealer.
