question about a future relationship?

I broke up with my girlfriend in november and i started talking to this new girl about the middle of december and we are both in college, so needless to say we both went home until the next semester starts. I like the girl, but there are plenty of other girls that like me, but she is by far my first choice. However we were talking today and she was like im going to be straight with you. She told me that she has been texting this other guy that she like back in august and September but for what ever reason nothing ever became of it. She told me that she didn't want to commit to anything until we began the next semester and she wanted to me and this other guy to each take her out on a date so she could decide which one she truly like the best. I was pissed, but said that was fine, because i didn't want her to know i was upset about it. I was wondering do i even want to put forward the effort for this girl if i have to compete for her attention? I mean she should just pick one of us instead of making us jump through hoops for her, i mean this guy had his chance months ago and it didn't work out. What would everyone else do, play her game and hope for the best or just forget about her and move on?
