Mine are also very similar from year to year. I collect Radko and antique ornaments, so they are always on board. I change lights sometimes and try something new. I usually put up two trees, one more traditional and sparkly. The other is a winter tree, decorated only with snowflakes and ice. There are lots of different ways to decorate a tree. Try thinking outside the usual things. Use a personal collection, or stick some odd things in the mix. You can do all one color, or use only organic decorations like leaves and cones, or all homemade stuff, or do a theme, like fairies, Mardi Gras, farm life, snowmen, animals, dogs, cowboys, sea life etc. My friend put a huge nativity scene in her tree one year. I prefer to see the same familiar ornaments year after year (Plus I have some investment in my ornaments, LOL) Have fun with your ideas.

wow that is funny...it brought tears to my eyes from laughing so hard. it brought back memories from when i was little, stringged popcorn on the tree and tinsel hanging from my mom's glasses and pine needles everywhere.
