Here's a vague/obscure T.V. series query; it's something I've been looking for, for years. Anyone know this?

I'm trying to find some information on an old '70's afterschool T.V. series, called "Hot Dog"; I remember seeing it, in the mid '70's, when I was younger, and for a couple of years, living in Indiana (...I never saw, nor had heard about it on the West Coast). It was a very enjoyable and informative show, which showed amazing and interesting different people, places and things, and was inter-spliced with celebrity commentary on the various people/places/things presented. The theme music to this series is still quite vivid in my mind, even to this day, but I've never been able to find any information on the show, ever since I saw the show, so many years ago. Please help me revive and relive a childhood memory...

Update:

...oh, man!!! I didn't think to use the IMDB site, as although I DO use it frequently, I always considered it just a 'movie' site. However, you DID ping upon information, which I could not find, so thanks...

I know of what you speak of...

"Hot Dog" was an NBC Saturday morning show from 1970 hosted by Woody Allen, Jo Anne Worley (Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In) and Jonathan Winters and the show was very much as you described (sort of an early prototype of Discovery Channel's "How It's Made").

It was syndicated throughout the Seventies (individual segments turning up on local kid's shows for example). Clips of the opening and end credit sequences are on YouTube (run a search for "Hot Dog tv show" and you'll find them).

I remember watching it when I was a kid, around 1970 or '71. I don't remember the theme music, though. I also remember an animated special called "Dig!", about a kid who rides to the center of the Earth on his bike, with a talking rock in the basket. No, I haven't been smoking anything, but reading about "Hot Dog" brought back that old memory.

The show sounds very interesting as you said. In fact it sounded interesting enough to try to find some information on this show myself. Based upon the information that I found this show is way before my time but I would still like to find this if possible because it sounds so interesting. I hope this help and if I find anything more on this show I will let you know.

This West Coast 70's gal remembers it well - not just a East Coast/Mid West show (as you know know)

I see you have been well provided with links - and fond memories to look through.

    Have fun.
