It says on the page you linked to that it comes with Windows XP. But you should understand, however, that just because it comes with an operating system, it doesn't mean that you can't install a different one on it at some later date. If you wanted to, you could install Vista on that computer. It even says the following on that page:

    # Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

Find the recover disks that came with your computer and boot the computer with them. That will return your computer to the state it was in when you bought it. If you don't have the disks, you can call the manufacturer and they should send you some. Vista is a good system but you should know you never get an operating system for free. You can do the recovery yourself without spend a lot of money. Next time follow directions, they are there for a reason.

No. It is a Windows XP. But Windows doesn't really make or sell XP anymore. Now, all new computers suppose to be Windows Vista.

Also, even though some computers are XP, you can upgrade it to Vista, but for my opinion, XP is better.

According the the page you linked to, its intended to work with Windows XP Home Edition, though it can be upgraded to Windows Vista (though I wouldn't recommend it since Vista needs more RAM and a more powerful processor to run well).

Older ones have XP, eMachines that being made now all have Vista --- it's the same with all brands...XP is plainly on the way out!

...NOW!...eMachines have a very high failure rate, made by Gateway. I had one, when I could have bought an HP with the same features, at the same price.

Troubles galore with eMachines! What was I thinking? I guess I had to learn the hard way.

Oh sure, WalMart, Best Buy, Circuit City, and all the others sell them....and you'll get a sales rep that will say "Yes, they both do the same thing." 'cause they want to get their bonus for sales. They don't care about YOU.

. you want an eMachine?! click on THIS! And there are many other similiar sites like this one.
