Why don't my dogs eat when I'm gone?

We always have food available for our dogs. Any dog that I've ever owned, never eats when they're home alone. It seems like they don't touch their water, either, no matter how long we've been out. Does anyone else have an experience like this? Why do they do this?

their lives are on hold until you, the joy of their existence, return

they are probably drinking out of the toilet or digging through the trash....

or seriously, they most likely are stuck in a routine. Also, there if they are older dogs they probably sleep alot while you are away and are more active when you are home, hence eating while you are home. If you live in a warm climate, maybe let them stay out all day with food and water, and that may change, as their are more things to do outside, keeping them active.

Well, you're dog may not eat because you're dog misses you. Don't worry because dogs will never ever starve themselves ever. Dogs will be happy when they see you which makes them more happy and makes them eat. I hope this helps! Good luck!

My dogs do the same thing. I think they miss the "routine" when we aren't home and when we do return they get back into the swing of things.

    Well,

Do you remember coming home when they were puppies upset that they pooped or peed the floor?

Eventually they realize what makes them have to go.

Mine will eat if it sees me outside, but not if he cant or my car is gone.

they are waiting for you, the Alpha, out of respect. If you were gone for any lenght of time, like over a day, they would eat or drink eventually.
