Baked Beans not right?
I have made a large batch of homemade baked beans for Christmas dinner today. They just taste like something is missing. I put in molasses, vinegar, salt, onions, brown sugar, mustard ( not much ) , a squirt of ketchup, They just taste blaaa, Any suggestions as to what I did wrong? Maybe more vinegar? They are sweet enough, maybe too sweet. I don't know what else to do....help!
I also parboiled with a ham bone and added ham to it.

You were certainly on the right track. The ketchup was the only 'left turn' I would have avoided because it really does change the flavor direction you were heading in. Bacon is a great option and also some h-e-a-t...like one (1) Chipolte Chili...in Adobo Sauce (YUM!). Also, next time instead of brown sugar...go with Maple Syrup - you will understand why when yo taste them ;)

Add some more ketchup, mustard and just a little more vinegar and let them cook a little longer -- until they thicken up. Homemade baked beans do take a little longer to cook and require more seasoning.

more salt, more ketchup or tomato sauce if you have it. More mustard, some garlic fresh or powdered, a few shakes of Worcestershire sauce or Tabasco, a cup of beef bullion stirred in.
