How to transfer DVD movies to iPod Classic?

I just got an iPod Classic for Christmas which has the video option. But, the problem is when I put DVDs in, they will only play on Windows Media Player. I need to know how to make a DVD play in the iTunes Movie option. I cannot get iTunes to be an option on the AutoPlay when i put the DVD in. Does anyone else have an iPod Classic that can help me?

    iPod recognizes MP4 format, so you just need a converter that will go from DVD to MP4, and then transfer the MP4 files to your iPod Nano with the sync of iTunes Library.     You should make sure the video is MP4 or H2.64 video for iPod. I like the DVD to iPod Converter Suite to rip DVD movie and convert videos in any format to iPod. It is the fastest converter I have used. Also, the output quality is great. You can download this software free from here

    You need to convert the movie to the h.264 mp4 mpaa format that the ipod excepts and copy it to the itunes folder.
