what do you think about Gwinnett County Schools?

Because in the last 15-20 years, it has turned from a Middle Class Area with students that behaved well and listen to their teachers and district test scores were high to an area which is crime ridden all over the place and misbehaved kids and graduation rates as low as 62.7%. I mean from brookwood with rich kids doing drugs and weed and mill creek with Gang Fights there and grayson black population increase from 7% to 31% from 2000 to 2008 and also fights and disruptive students and meadowcreek with hispanic and black kids causing a ruckus to the teachers and administration. It is all a mess and a disaster. It is all the buliders fault who bulit those cheap, investment type properties rather than bulid homes that are fit for the more true middle class not vulnerable to demographic change. If buliders would of not gotten growth as crazy as it is today, Gwinnett would of had kids that behaved, test scores and graduation rates would be to the tops, and it would of been considered the safest place in Metro Atlanta. So sad that things have to be this way.

Wayne Hill was the most corrupt county commisioner there was. Don't blame the developers - they are just trying to make a buck. Blame the elected officials for accepting "gift's" for their approval on zoning matters.

All they see is a tax revenue for increased develpoment. What they fail to see is the trmendous revenue output for the increased infrastructure this development causes. That in turn causes people such as yourself to flee the insanity after a few years. Corporations will then start to pull out of town as well for the happiness of their employess and standard of living. This eventually leads to decreased tax revenue and no money to pay back the bond's that were used to build the schools , roads and sewer/water lines.

Your also blaming the development for the disrespectful punks. Sorry, Mikey says that starts at home. Parents in the go, go,go lifestyle and chasing the almighty $ to buy a bigger house and BMW are really the ones at fault. Americans in general do not stop and see what life is all about. They think a bigger home and nicer car will bring them happiness. Then one day when the kid's have left the house and are sitting in jail, or drug rehab, the parents sit back and say " where did the time go ?". They are in their sixties with no retirement savings and wonder why. Who can we blame - not ourselves ! They traded a huge mortgage and Mercedes for true happiness.

Mikey's solution to development and the failed present day system...

Get rid of all commisioners and their staff - save millions!

Replace it with a "jury" system of Homeowners. When a developer want to come in and develop 3 miles within your property, then a jury of homeowners comes to the courthouse and makes the decision. They can have road engineers and whatnot at their disposal to help.

If you attend the hearing - 5% tax break on you property taxes for 5 years. Dont show 'cause your "too busy "- 5% tax penalty for 5 years.

This system will make sure that there is no way for developers to " pay off " all the homeowners so that problem is solved. The homeowners get to choose what is right for their neighborhood , and are rewarded for getting involved in the community.

Gwinett is overdeveloped ! Plain and simple. Heck Atlanta is overdeveloped.

Sonny Perdue looks like Elmur Fudd and is a complete moron. 19 million for fishing tourism in the midst of a historic drought. He legalized " noodeling". Legalized sparklers - great , give a 5 year old a torch in the middle of the drought. Spayed a dog on tax payers time.Helped lure KIA to build a plant - 5 miles from the Alabama border. The president of KIA was also indicted on bribery charges 4 months after. HUH ?

OK I'm done - Mikey feels better now and I got to get to the beach....

Source(s): 37 years in Atlanta and Gwinett. Now retired and happy at age 42 in lovely Acapulco. Good luck with that.

There might be schools in the county that are "nice", but the way that Gwinnett County as a whole handles problems leaves a lot to be desired. The school district cares more about their "appearance" than about helping the kids, or about doing what is right FOR The kids in their district. Its all about appearances and how good the district looks on paper. You can't expect much when that is their priority.
