You're trying to not-so-subtly create a point that many inventors were christians, right? Not relevant in any way shape or form. When the things you're citing were created in Western countries the prevailing belief system was christianity.

Should I mention ALL the things that the Chinese invented that were adopted by the west? Or the teachings of the Greeks upon which much of our society is based? Neither of those two groups were christian . . .

The question has been answered. There are many things that have been invented by people who weren't christians - not just atheists but people of other beliefs.

The fact that the teachings of the ancient Greeks have stood up for thousands of years says a lot about the sophistication of these pagan people, doesn't it?

It's sad that you're so blind to these things.

Most of the things that bear the names of their inventors are things you've probably never heard of. Like the Turing machine, the Dewar flask, the Argand lamp, the Moog synthesizer, the Franklin stove, the Hellschreiber (by Rudolf Hell), and many others. Though you may have never heard of these things, they are still referred to by these names at times. But there are a few famous ones. Everyone has heard of the Braille writing system, and most people still remeber the Rubik's cube. So that's at least a couple to start with!

Marconi invented the radio. The fact that Tesla managed to get a US patent granted before Marconi was more due to the fact that one was in Europe and the other was in the US than anything else.

A man with over 1,000 patents and who would no patent medical devices: Edison.

"I cannot believe in the immortality of the soul... No, all this talk of an existence beyond the grave is wrong. It is born of our tenacity of life - our desire to go on living - our dread of coming to an end."

I see you're trying to make a pointless point. Good for you.

The computer that you're using right now wouldn't function without the algorithms devised by Alan Turing. He was gay.

    Enjoy using your gay computer.
