I love listening to rumors, so...?

Since the Mats Sundin sweepstakes are officially closed, the next big question is where will Marian Gaborik end up? Will he be traded, will the Wild let him walk, or will his groin officially explode?

I also think he will probs just get to go at the end of the season. I like him on the Wild b/c he is a good player, but I tire of the drama that surrounds him. I wish we would trade him, but not for Saku. I would like it better if Saku chose to come here himself, not because of a trade. That way we'd know that Mikko was totally cool with the decision. The Habs really don't have the cap space to keep Gabby though unless they give a few players for him, the numbers line up very awkwardly I honestly think Gabby is being an idiot b/c the contract the Wild offered him was nice, esp. since he is so fragile. Any way the situation goes should be interesting, though if we just let him walk and he walks away I may become a little vengeful and start to hope his groin will "officially explode" lol!

A lot of rumors say Gaborik can come to Montreal, I hope not. The Canadiens will have to give up quite a few prospects for him, a few draft picks and one of their players. It's not worth it. Gaborik is one of the most injury prone players in the NHL and if the Habs want a player that will be out for almost all the season, then take him, but as a Habs fan, I think it will be a bad move for the organization.

The only way I see Gaborik getting traded by the trade deadline is if a team is in a severe struggle to get in to the playoffs AND if Gaborik can play atleast two to three months, straight.

I actually heard this rumor...Gaborik to the Thrashers for Kovalchuk. They have roughly the same salary structure and both are elite talents and classic underacheivers so it actually makes some sense. I know the Rangers and Flyers had expressed some interest in the preseason so those could be other possible destinations. The LA Kings are flirting with the salary cap floor and need to stay in compliance so it is possible they may pick him up, figure he will sell enough tickets to offset some of his cost in LA and they can let him walk after the season (this would assume they dont have to give much for him....they have little to offer anyways so think salary dump here...someone they have signed to a longer deal they no longer want to pay). And finally the Oilers may make a push, they have been desperately pursuing every other potential superstar (they were linked to Sundin and offered Hossa crazy money).

Speaking as a Wild fan I hope they resign him. Yes I know he has a history of injuries but when he is healthy he is as dangerous as any other player in the NHL.

Now speaking from the rumor mill, I have heard many rumors about him going to Montreal, specifically for Chris Higgins and top prospect Ryan McDonagh. I honestly don't see them trading for Mikko's big bro because Saku becomes a free agent next off season and if they really want him, they will just sign him then.

Now again speaking as a Wild fan, their GM Doug Reisbrough has traditionally been very quiet at the trade deadline so realistically (and sadly), my prediction is that they just let him walk.

I am almost 100% sure, Gaborik is going to the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for Ilya Kovalchuk, although the Wild will probably give the Thrashers a draft pick as well, maybe 3rd round.

I heard he was going to Montreal for Higgins, a 1st and probably Halak as well. Because Minnesota, doesn't have strong goaltending, and they mainly rely on Backstrom, but Harding is pretty solid himself. So if Backstrom is gone this year or next (I forget), then it's Halak and Harding in the net, and they're both solid tenders, so it's pretty much like Nabokov and Toskala.
