    Its pronounced chork like stork only with a ch at the beginning. The L is silent.

    I'm never confused I'm a woman :) Only men get confused.

    I live in Canada and was an english major and the proper way to say it, in Canada, is Chalk, with the "L" pronounced. Peace:)

    It's pronounced Chahk. No, they don't. I asked my sister this question and she's in grade 2, and even she got it. Sorry to say, but, 1st grade, buddy! >:P
