In novel a man who knows a little Vietnamese says this to a young girl who has just saved his life - he may not be speaking the language very well - can you tell me what it means - Thank You!

The first sentence is not misspelled.
With accent marks it actually is: Cám ơn cô em. Cô thật gan dạ và sự can đảm của cô đã cứu sinh mạng chúng tôi.
which means "Thank you lady! You was really brave and your courage saved our lives."
He said perfect Vietnamese. I'm a native speaker, so lacking of accent marks doesn't matter to me.

I'm think you may have mis-transcribed the first little sentence, it's probably just "thank you", but without the tonal and vowel markings, there is some confusion, as there's not enough here to establish full context. the rest is clear though. co that gan da (you're really brave) va su can dam cua co (and your courage) da cuu sinh mang chung toi ( saved our lives).

First sentence(should mean) - Thank you Lady.
Sentence #2 (This is hard without pronounciation marks xP ) - You are brave.?
Uhh.. the rest of that I can't really be sure.. Something about accept or something?
