Do Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Jehovah created only Jesus by Himself ?

And everything else was created through Jesus?

Is this Biblical teaching?

Yes, the Russellites obviously do. Mister FROGGY here uses one old example of how they used to rationalize this belief by incorrectly interpreting Proverbs 8:22 as speaking about the Son, when King Solomon is clearly talking about wisdom (and it is a "she", not a "he"; see all of Proverb's first eight chapters, e.g., Proverbs 3:13-18) being personified, and not about the messiah to come. Even most "New Light" Russellites now recognize this. Also, they incorrectly infer, as Mister FROGGY did here, that "the only begotten", in the NT Koine Greek "monogenos", as in John 1:14 and John 1:18, also means "created". No, that would be "monoktisis", or "monoktisma" in the NT Koine Greek; if there were ever such a thing! As early church father Origen correctly states, He is the One and Only, eternally begotten Son of God, and NOT created.

And, in order to defend this otherwise undefendable position, of believing this heresy that Jesus was created by His own Father, they have even, apparently out of sheer desperation, altered the crystal clear translation in Colossians 1:16 from the NT Koine Greek "ta panta" to the English "all things", to say "all other things" in their spurious NWT version of the Bible. If that were the correct translation, it would have read in the NT Koine Greek "ta panta alla" or "ta alla panta"; but it doesn't say that in ANY manuscripts of antiquity, let alone the Koine Greek ones, whatsoever! In other words, Colossians 1:16 reads correctly from the NT Koine Greek, "...for by Him all things were created...". So, Jedidoctor here sadly has been deceived into believing that whatever the NWT says must be right.

In other words, the Russellite writers of their NWT version must have had the spiritual insolence, and the foolhearty and malicious intent to distort what was clearly written in the original language in order to suit their own presupposed theological system of doctrine! And, what did the Apostle Peter say about such folks who distort the Pauline writings? "His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction." (2 Peter 3:16b)

And just for emphasis, most likely for reasons such as this fallacious Russellite tenant, the Apostle John confirms this Pauline teaching from the letter to the church in Colossae in his own gospel, making it quite clear that NOTHING that was made (which clearly would include Jesus if He indeed was created) was created by anyone other than Christ Himself, "Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made." (John 1:3)

In addition, in order to answer Yeshua Crazy's important question, there were many different mythologies and philosophies of the time of the NT church that believed there was another god, or even many gods that created the universe, that the apostolic Christian teaching necessarily needed to counter. This is especially true with the heretical Gnostic doctrines that believed that God Who is holy, couldn't possibly create the material world, since those who held to such an idea believed it was at least inferior to spiritual entities, if not intrinsically evil. This is clearly wrong, since God said in the creation account of Genesis 1 that all things He made were "good".

    Yes. (Col 1:15, Ps 89:27, Jer 31:9, Rev 3:14, Heb 1:6, ect...)

    Scripture: Colossians 1:16

"all things were created by* him"

The Greek word *dia* always denotes "the channel an act". Usually it represents an agent being used by another, but it can also mean the channel from which an act originates.

The context, as well as the rest of the scriptures, show that in Colossians 1:16 the word is used to express that Jesus is used as an agent by the God and Father of Jesus in creation.

Yes they do, because it says so directly in the Bible. Col 1:16 "because by means of him all other things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All other things have been created through him and for him."

The Bible refers to Jesus as 'Mighty God', and we can be happy to honour Jesus properly. However, Jesus is God's son and should not be confused with his Father, Jehovah.

Yes. They believe Jehovah only created jesus and then through him He created everything else, but the Bible does not say that. This is the Watchtower Society's teachings

The bible teaches us that in the beginning God created his only begotten son, and through him all other things were made. His son is not a co-creator though.

It makes sense, it's logical and it's fact. The bible clearly states that Jesus was God's first creation. Why else would Jesus know so much, and care so much for us? Since Jesus was already in heaven with God, he saw everything God did, including the sinning of Adam and Eve and Satan's apostasy.

Jehovah made the scriptures understandable when examined carefully. There is no truth in the trinity as no matter how you try to explain it, it just is not logical or understandable. That means its a lie.

God does not lie, the bible does not lie. Apostates lie and they even use God's name Jehovah to validate their wicked lies.

In accord with the Bible , Jesus was indeed created first as the "only begotten son of God" as this text states:

    Prov. 8: (ASV)

22 Jehovah possessed me in the beginning of his way, Before his works of old.

23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, Before the earth was.

24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth, When there were no fountains abounding with water.

    25 Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills was I brought forth;

26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, Nor the beginning of the dust of the world.

27 When he established the heavens, I was there: When he set a circle upon the face of the deep,

28 When he made firm the skies above, When the fountains of the deep became strong,

    29 When he gave to the sea its bound, That the waters should not transgress his commandment, When he marked out the foundations of the earth;

30 Then I was by him, as a "master workman"; And I was daily his delight, Rejoicing always before him,

31 Rejoicing in his habitable earth; And my delight was with the sons of men.

To what extent did Jesus create "all other things" we do not know exactly! I would think it would be a great percentage as the "master workman.

God states that He created all things and that Jesus is the Creator of all things. This makes Jesus God.

The Watchtower's Jehovah's Witnesses say Jehovah created Jesus and Jesus created all things.

Either the bible is wrong or the Watchtower's Jehovah's Witnesses are wrong.

    Bible references:

    GENESIS 1:1

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

    GENESIS 1:2

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

    ISAIAH 45:18

For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I [am] the LORD; and [there is] none else.

    REVELATION 4:11

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

    REVELATION 10:6

And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

    ISAIAH 42:5

Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

    ISAIAH 45:12

I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, [even] my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.

The Watchtower has polluted many verses when creating the NW variation of the bible.

    KJV

    Colossians 1:16

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

According to Revelation 3:14, Jesus is the very beginning of God's creations. So yes, he was created directly by God.

According to Colossians 1, God used Jesus to bring about all other things into existance.

So the Jehovah's Witnesses' view on this is in exact harmony with what the Bible clearly states.

(EDIT: Only a truly ignorant moron would call them a cult.)

(EDIT 2: Lives7 obviously has no idea what Jehovah's Witnesses believe. Jehovah's Witnesses have NEVER taught or believed that Jesus is in any way equal to God, particularly so when Revelation 3:14 clearly states that Jesus is the beginning of God's creations. Jesus was created BY GOD......and so very obviously is NOT Jehovah God himself. No amount of your clear misinterpretation of scripture will change that.)

These scriptures show Jesus was first created and after that everything else was by means of him created. To me it's like a big shake and bake and Jesus helped with the power given to him by his loving Father Jehovah.

(Colossians 1:15-20) 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the (((((((((firstborn)))))))))) of all creation; 16 because ((((((((((((by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth,)))))))))))) the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist, 18 and he is the head of the body, the congregation. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that he might become the one who is first in all things; 19 because [God] saw good for all fullness to dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile again to himself all [other] things by making peace through the blood [he shed] on the torture stake, no matter whether they are the things upon the earth or the things in the heavens.
