What did the Nazi Roehm mean when he said "All revolutions devour their own children"?

When the banksters and ruling elite cannot agree on who should control the "olive oil business," they go to the mattresses and many of their soldiers must die. It is all about wealth and greed, not religion. Follow the money. Ancient Egypt and, later, Rome made no bones about it. They were very direct in their objectives. Never had to concoct some preposterous story about WMDs and create diversions and red herrings. The Crusades were not really about religion, get real. Just an excuse to plunder and gain market share. Just excuses like the Spanish Conquistadors were not about enlightening the natives of South America or anywhere else. The little people would be dangerous if they ever understood the truth. They cannot handle the truth.

A military rebellions for control will always feed on themselves in a counter revolution. Ironically Ernst Roehm who lead the brown shirts was killed by Hitler's SS (black shirts) on Hitlers orders.

All revolutions cause pain the those who have to live through it, and it causes hard times for the people. Thousands of Nazis lost their lives during the "Hitler Revolution", and they lost their lives for nothing because they didn't win the war.

it means that all revolutions devour their own children because the people all were gung-ho about their causes without thinking about the outcome it will cause sure they might win but the death toll was not an acceptable risk in his mind. they wanted to fight for a belief if it killed them and their children anyway

I didn't watch Valkyrie, victors write the history and am skeptical about seeing it. But I will give you an answer soon, I'm just thinking. I'm assuming he meant that those who pursue change, their beloved ones or close friends or even acquaintances will pursue revolutions of their own.

That children only do what they see or hear... If parents are rude, selfish, or rotten to their kids, then the kids will turn out... most of the time. But if parents treat their family members with respect, then kids will respect themselves and others.
