4 MONTH OLD BABY WITH STOMACH FLU AND FEVER , please help..?
My son will be 5 months in a week. Today is Saturday the 27th. This all started last Sunday when he threw up twice (he's not a throw up baby, not even much spit-up). Right after the vomiting episode, he pooped the worse smelling poop ever. It was mucusy with chunks (doctor says today that it is diarhea). That weird texture and smell of the poop has been occuring all week. Many times he passes gas and poop comes out, I'll change his diaper and it is ALWAYS dirty, whether a little or a lot. Christmas night, he threw up again twice and had a fever. I went in to the doctor yesterday, and dr said jus let it pass. Had blood drawn from his arms and results: normal. Fever got worse last night to 102.3. Went to a diff MD today and he says that fevers are rare at the end of an illness, so baby got checked for UTI, initial results are negative but still waiting for the final results; doc says should not be a uti. I also went to the doctor last mon , day after it all started. He just said wait it out. PLEASE, I'm going crazy seeing my baby in so much pain (he's been overly fussy since yesterday. He screams evertime we touch him, hasn't smile for days) I miss my baby. Please someone, what is this!? What should I do? The dr's can't say anything else but its the stomach flu and let it pass on its own.

I'm so sorry about your baby being so sick. Whenever my babies got sick I was freaking out. Have you been giving your baby infant tylenol or ibuprofin? I think that is a must to help bring the fever down and relieve pain. Also, don't keep the baby fully clothed or swaddled heavily because he'll get hot. He also needs lots of fluids, so feed him often, even if he just throws it up, he needs the hydration.
I seriously hope he feels better. If he gets up to 102 again, I'd go to the er. Take care.

Could it be the noro virus? I mean, I haven't had it yet, and neither have my children, but stomach pain, vomiting and fever around this time of year sound like noro virus. In my experience kids symptoms take a little longer to die down.
I really sympathise though, you must feel very helpless. Persist with the medicine (in the UK its Calpol) to keep the fever down, make sure you leave his clothing off when his temperature goes up,aand make sure he is in a ventilated room. Give him lots of cold fluids to drink, more than usual.
That said, if the symptoms persist more than a few days back, go back to your doc again. Perhaps ask to see a different physician.
Good luck and sorry again.

DON't go crazy when you read the first answer - these things are very rare, but that person's advice is good. Go to the emergency room. There is no shame whatsoever in doing that and they might just put your mind at rest. 4 months is very young. It's far better to be safe than sorry. Having brought up 2 sons myself, I can assure you that 99% of all of these things disappear as soon as they arrive, but do go, for your own peace of mind. Good luck.

if you are really worried take him to the hospital, its what they are 4...... stomach flu is Gastroenteritis, which is very very common. and nearly always caused by by a virus so unfortunatly thre is very little you can do. if he was ill before, then its a secondary infection. all you can really do is to treat the symptoms, make sure hes having lots of fluids, make sure you give him lots of water.loads and loads, and give him a paracetomol based medicine. calpol in england, i think tylanol in america??this will help the temp and any pain he is feeling. it is horribl eto see, but thre isnt much else im afraid. keep going to he doctor if you are worried. babys are very resilient and hell be ok. i hope he feels better soon, wish i could help more.
