How do I strengthen my wrists?

I do gymnastics but lately, I've felt a lot of pressure on my wrists. Sometimes, I even get scared to do moves because I feel like my wrists will collapse. I've always had bad joints but it's really becoming a problem because at the end of practice, I can't even do a roundoff without feeling wrist pain. Are there any exercises that can help?

    Definatly!!

An easy one you can do at home is get cans of soup hold them in your hands, palms up.

Now let your wrist go loose and let the can start to roll to the end of your fingertips (but don't let it fall) now slowly roll it back in and lift the can up... like you're doing a curl with the cans.

You can also do this with small hand weights if you have access to them!

Keep doing that. After that becomes easy then up to a heavier can.

I have also seen many gymnasts lean into a wall with their arms straight. Looks like they're going to do a push up but against a wall.

Keep your arms straight..... and do a small push up like thing but only flexing at your wrists. (hard to describe)

Make sure you warm up your wrists really well before this.... and gymnastics. And stretch them really well afterwards!

    Good Luck! Hope this helps!

you can always use wrist wieghts!!!

i bought both wrist and ankle weights that you just strap on and walk around with at home. It builds strength in your wrist and can help in not only that, but in agility =]

Do wrist curls, with light dumbbells. Won't be a problem after that.
